Title: Scientific P-82 Twin Mustang
Post by: curtis mattikow on January 02, 2019, 02:42:36 PM
I built this and sent it out to be proxy flown at a contest at least fifteen years ago.  Finally got it back this morning.  It's going to need some work...

I only wish.  Would be easier.  That is staining on the dope finish from leaving raw fuel on the plane.

There has got to be quite a story behind being discovered years later and returned...besides looking like the proxy tried to fly it on gasoline! What is still good looking makes me think this was a stunning model before being handed off to "Proxy."
After.seeing your other models, this one should be easy enough to repair...if not heartbreaking first!
My sympathies to you.

It's already much better, you can see pics on my facebook.  Brushing on thinner took care of most of the staining, plus some filler and black dope touch up.  Need to restore the gloss, I will try some 4000 grit paper.  Skip, do you guys have a paved circle where we can fly this and the Apache?

Wish I had kept the underwing rockets, which were included in the kit.  I built them but threw them out some years ago when I deemed the model lost forever.
