Title: Schaffer Stunt Machine History
Post by: ash on February 18, 2006, 10:26:17 PM
Hi all,

I already asked this over at SSW, but so far haven't lured the exact info I need, so I thought I should post here too, for max coverage. Sorry to be so persistent on this  ;)

I'm very interested in building a Stunt Machine for Classic Stunt here in NZ. NB our rules have a cutoff date a year later than the USA one, 31 December 1970.

I know the SM was published in '71, but if it was DRAWN, BUILT or FLOWN before the cutoff date, I can enter it in Classic. Given the lead-time to publish build-articles in magazines, I was hoping there was a good chance it did exist in 1970.

Can any of you confirm or deny that the Stunt Machine existed in some form in 1970?

Hi Ash,

Bob "Mr. '69 NATS" "Champione" Lampione could give us that answer!

Where are you , Bobby??

As you say, with the lead time for a magazine article, the Stunt Machine would have almost HAD to have been at least designed before the end of 1970.

Thanks for that tip, Bill. I have e-mailed Bob and hopefully he will get back to me with some memories.

I haven't heard back from Bob L yet, but I just saw an earlier post by him at SSW suggesting the answer is 'maybe' and that Bob Hunt may know for sure. Time to hunt for Mr Hunt!
