He has four wins and one loss and is still in the running for overall F2D champ.

Update: Sam finished 4-2, but Lihan Chen is 5-2.  Somehow I missed her.

Everyone becomes a memory. The question is: will you be a good one or a bad one?
Kindness echoes. So does cruelty. People remember both.

Congrats to both Sam and Angstrom for their excellent flights at the World Championships.

In stunt, Angstrom qualified 3rd, so he enters the fly-off rounds with the possibility of winning 1st or 2nd.

From the posts I've seen, the flyers and their teams have been enjoying not only the flying, but also the Perth hospitality.

Thanks for the correction. Go, Angstrom!

How about some love for the speed team? Currently Alex Valishev is first at 308 kph, Patrick Hempel is fourth with a new personal best of 298.1, Bill Hughes is fifth at 297.5. Alex also turned a 309 in the World Cup, which may be a new world record. Also Dave Rigotti turned a respectable speed in the electric event. As far as I know, he's the only F2G flier in the USA, and has been at it for less than one year. Great job, guys!

That is good news about the speed team.  Seems they get left out of coverage at times. D>K

The FAI site had her listed only as F NOT a JR. for the entirety of the event. That's why you missed it, the info wasn't there. Well as it turned out since she was 21 and and under the rules a JR. she was awarded the JR. and F 1st place rankings. We were not made aware of this mistake until after the contest was over. We thought Sam had bested all of the other JRs and secured a 1st place victory. We were wrong and didn't find out until the final rankings were posted which correctly listed Lihan from China as a Female and a JR. We were certainly bummed out but will not let it take away from our amazing experience at our first Worlds. It is also worth noting that Samuel defeated the current reigning 2 time World Champion for Finland in round 2. That was no easy task, Jussy is an amazing pilot and the match was hard fought.  Sam earned an individual Silver and Team Silver in F2D, and he was tied for 6th place out of a field of 37 pilots, a great showing for a 17 year old kid. We'll be back and Sam will just have to win more matches next time to get to the top.
