I tried submitting a report, but got my pictures rejected twice and the report blown away.  I might put it elsewhere or try again tomorrow.  I gotta do some sleeping.  In summary, weather is excellent, and everybody's here.

Yo!  I've never seen such perfect flying weather.  Only a bit cloudy Sunday morn, but cleared up way before noon. Very light winds from NNW.

Makes me wish I lived here.

Oh!  I forgot.  I do live here.

I'm really happy that the weather was extremely good. It means that more flights were put up, and more fun per sq foot was had by all, but I can get a weather report on my computer. What I can't get, unless someone posts it, are the results from the events, and pictures.  HB~>

John,
the easiest way to get the results is to BE THERE

at the trophy presentation, it was voted that no one would post results just because you and Randy didnt show up. we want to torture you because you didnt show.

ok well maybe not. My excuse, I got home about 5 minutes ago, yeah its 1:15 AM, Im not typing anything except, some people won, some people lost, and a great time was had by all. Maybe I will try to remember more tomorrow, but my report will be incomplete.
Randy,
I did not crash anything, the Orange (linda's ) Oriental survived despite an engine malady which will generate an entire thread of its own, I flew, and the eastern contingent Stunt dudes placed third in NW sport race despite a deliberate handicap with the downwind pit stall which led to a mechanical issue, but we had Gibault  covered till then!
More tomorrow, shower, sleep, yawn,,,,,,,now , wheres my aloe Vera lotion, the sun was brutal  y1 ;D 8)

Sorry guys,, that was harsh of me,, and NO richard didnt win everything,, heck he didnt fly combat, yet, he didnt fly speed or racing,,

As I recall, David beat Paul by one point in expert, I think Rich Walburg (SP) won advanced, Steve Helmick won intermidiat, I think,
I won everything else because I didnt crash anything, and flew well,,, my last Advance flight was the equal of anything I feel I have ever put up. Randy, you would have quivered when you saw my takeoffs,,,, they ROCKED, of course the other stuff was typicall advanced,, but for my second advanced contest,, fourth out of 13 is not to hang my head over.
sure did miss you dudes though!

This was my first time to this meet. All the other contests I have attended (watching and or flying) recently have been the Woodland gigs. The wind was quite abit more than I am use to flying in , but I figure if the other guys fly in it , I will give it a go.  I don't have all the results in my head ,but I can say that PTG won the concours award. I thought Bob Duncans twin engine Imitation was right there in finish and originality but probably didn't get the nod due to a slight bias against profile fuse planes. The rest on the line up for looks award were all top shelf also.  This was the first time since about 72' since I saw so much good flying and so many different classes. Carrier, speed events, combat, stunt, and even one entry for scale.  I can now put a face with many of the names that post on here. I am already planing for next year.

Here's the few pictures I took. First pic should be Dave Fitzgerald's WC winning Thunder Gazer...I got to watch it fly on the winning flight, and it was very good, tho the bottom of the 2nd loop of the Clover got a gasp from all of us! No paint was damaged, but it was deemed illegal procedure by the NTSA. Good flying, Dave!

The "All American Eagle 2009" is Paul Walker's new weapon. I'd thought it was a one-piece plane, but the picture reveals the pockets for the screws for a 2-piece wing (Tom Morris style). I watched it fly, and it looked great, but I was downwind, during a break in the Advanced flying. I thought it was a .21FP at first...

The nose of Pat Johnston's Mustang, as published in MA. Pat says this is a great flying plane, so if you have a Stalker .51RE and want a smallish model (620sq"?), look it up. He won't let me fly it, tho...I'm bummed.

One of the prettiest and better flying combinations was Norm Whittle's "Sultan" with a Stalker .76RE with a header muffler. It's quiet, and sounds very good and powerful...I want one! I met Norm for the first time, and he's a good guy and very good flier. I'd heard he was a super builder, and finally realized that this Sultan is covered with FILM!
NICE! There might be some paint on the fuselage, but I didn't get to ask. I did get to launch it, and it pulls very hard. When it's just a bit too rich, it has a harsh vibration, but smoothes out fine at launch rpm.

I didn't find out who won Beginner, but maybe Russell Shaffer will post it? I was surprised to win Intermediate myself, after getting 4th in Sportsman Profile. Derek Moran won Sportsman Profile. Expert Profile was (I think) won by Pat Johnston, flying a P-40 ARF with dihedral added, .46LA.  EDIT: Pat was 2nd. Norm Whittle won Expert Profile,  flying Gordan Delaney's "Twin Pathfinder".  Norm crashed his own Twin Pathfinder at home in Utah, when the inboard engine quit in the climb of a wingover, and Gordan made him bring a substitute. It flies really well!

Jeff Rein won all three combat events, which were NW 80-MPH, high performance 1/2A, and D-Bat.

Leo Mehl and I judged Advanced on Sunday, and then I went and mostly just watched the Experts. I left the field at 5pm and arrived home at 10:15pm. Not a bad drive at all, considering the holiday weekend. I stopped for a sit-down dinner at a real restaurant,  and again for gasoline.

The weather was sunny but much of the time, there was some wind from the North that was more than we wanted. It was flyable, but I did have 2nd thoughts about a tuned pipe to control the windup. Generally ok!

GREAT LOOKIN' MODELS...(even heard that Granderson had his beautiful new "MeeeeeanGreeeeanMachine"  was on the scene also?
Paul's Eagle and Norm's Whittle new rides are also...amazing. It goes without sayin' but Dave Fitzeeeegeee's 1st place machine is such an awesome CLPA model that also is one amazing piece of sky art.

Thanks Steve...for being first to post the GREAT PHOTOS AND STORIES!!!  H^^ H^^ H^^ BW@ BW@ BW@ CLP**

I don't recall the beginner winner, but I know who finnished last.  I crashed and Mr. Fitzgerald's kids both beat me.  They did good.

It was a big group and I just wanderered around and tried to soak it all in.  Now if I can just remember some of what I learned.  I shouldn't be as nervous and confused next time, but I probably won't be much better.  Thanks to all those people whose ears I bent.  We got there Thursday afternoon, stayed at the field, and didn't leave until Monday afternoon.  I got to fly every evening after the real flyers left for their motels so I am pleased with the whole weekend.  Even my wife enjoyed it.

Congrats Steve!  and thanks for the report.  H^^

I think Alan Resinger got second place in Classics (don't know which plane he flew tho), and Don McClave took first.

Alan R. flew his "Gypsy" (ST G.21 .46), and Don McC. the "O'Toole Tucker" (AeroTiger .36). Both good looking planes, well powered and well flown! Wish I could have watched 'em fly...  y1 Steve

Need a little correction here. Norman Whittle actually won Profile with the twin Pathfinder. Pat Johnston was second.

Howard,

I really really wanted to be there. But, Sandy just had surgery again on her ankle. Six times now. Hope it`s the last. Then Cassidy was in a boot and Cruches. I always look forward to seeing all of you guys and gals. See ya at the nats though.

Gordy

PS: Did you get to see my Twin Pathfinder fly? Norm did a good job of flying it.
