I think Dave's reporting of the NATS das been interrupted enough. I've known Brenda since her and Melvin attended their first NATS with my wife, son JJ and myself at the 87 NATS. When she found out there was no one to tabulate scores for carrier, she volunteered. She das never missed a NATS since. She has been an event director for several events until Bev Wisneiwski took control of her. Yes she may run a hard ship at times, but put yourself in her shoes. She is responsible for all the event directors getting what they need. She listens to all the complaints and gets very little in thank you's. I don't know the whole story as I am not there. Now if she had left Mr. Traxler stuff where he left it and some else had come along and took it for them selves and disappeared what would have happened. Yes it has happened in the past of competitors being cleaned out or stuff stolen. But, I think there is more to the story and I wait for her version. Yes I may be biased as I've know her a long time and have worked with her being an event director and assistant event director for her. This is all I have to say until I see her.

Sounds like from the various conversations this may be the problem.

Strictly my opinion and may have nothing to do with her in particular. But there is something wrong. Things like this don't just happen between what is supposed to be two "very NICE People"!

There are two sides to every story. We have not heard Brenda's and probably wont. We need to leave it at that and move on. I have attended many many nats and she runs ALL of CL. I don't see anybody else stepping up to take it on so us grown men can play with our toys in the middle of the summer.

I think words like Tyrant are a bit strong, especially when the whole story is not yet out there.

Actually, things like that do happen between two people who are supposed to be very nice.
One or both tired or under a bit of stress - disagreement over some minor thing - one or both gets a little upset - things escalate - and pretty soon at least one is considering divorce or the nuclear option.

THIS event director found Brenda Schuette to be extremely helpful and involved. She frequently showed up while making her rounds, and was instrumental in helping us get issues resolved. From the chatter on the radio, it was obvious she was the first call for a lot of other ED's on the field. I am grateful for her being there.

In 2006-2008, I ran Nats OTS & Classic, plus judged CLPA all week. At all times, I found Brenda to be very helpful and cooperative.

As someone suggested (above), there are two sides to every story.

So it's all Mr Traxler's fault and He deserved the treatment he received...is that the conclusion of the Lady is Mrs Wonderful!

The AMA strikes again! I guess this is all really funny...either that or pathetic. I'm glad I don't really know which!!

I am pretty sure I did not read anyone saying that, in fact I think most people were saying not to judge since we dont know both sides.
As I am reminded by friends many times,, it is only toy airplanes.

As noted above, most of the commenters *are not here* and *have heard only one side of this story*. But despite that, people just just launch into AMA jibes and snide comments about Brenda. I *am* here and *did* hear both sides.

The AMA competition group does an absolutely *excellent* job of running the NATs. There are issues here and there but don't confuse the bumbling of the general AMA leadership with the efforts of the people running the competition side. If the competition side was in charge of the entire thing, we would never have gotten in the mess we are currently fighting.

I guarantee you don't want the job of category director at the NATs, it like herding cats, and 200 lb, highly canterkerous cats at that. It is not at all helpful or fair to launch into a jihad (particularly, egged on by long-time provocateurs whose hobby is causing problems simply to cause problems) without knowing the entire story. People are not asked to leave the AMA property lightly or on the observations of a single individual.

This entire incident was very unfortunate and probably could have been avoided with just a little common courtesy and tolerance. But one thing I do know is that going after Brenda Schuette from thousands of mile away is not going to make the situation better or advance our cause.

My apologies to everyone concerned.

The situation, at least from afar simply doesn't seem as straight forward as what I'm hearing from afar. However I have no right to interfere and voice my dislike for the AMA in general. I do not know the woman involved and will certainly take the word of people I know and trust but right now it's a mixed story from my point of view.

Best I just keep my mouth shut I suppose!

I'd not heard the Barry Sotoro (sic) bit before. In the fable it's actually spelled "Soetoro", but why bother with facts.

So let's update the narrative to include this information.

A mid western woman wants to birth her own Manchurian candidate to one day become president of the United States. Given the state of race relations in 1960 she decides the best way to do this is to head off to Africa and become impregnated by a black man. Because in a country where segregation had only been abolished six years earlier a black president would be a shoe in. So she has said child in Kenya, names him Barry SOETORO, sneaks him into Hawaii and obtains a false birth certificate. At some point after college, perhaps after the first gulf war, he realizes the key to becoming president is taking a Muslim name. Not just any Muslim name mind you, but that of one of the country's most sworn enemies. How could this ingenious plan not work?

Read this to yourself, and see if you can actually convince yourself it's true.

Maybe he really was born in Hawaii, worked his ass off, became a lawyer, a constitutional law professor, was elected to congress, and was legitimately voted into the presidency.

I didn't mean to particularly single you out, of course, Randy. But, rule of thumb, if one finds oneself agreeing with Peabody on the topic of stunt politics, one might want to re-examine one's position.

I won't go into any of the details I have on the topic as there are others much closer to the issue, and it wouldn't serve any purpose. There are always conflicts to one degree or another, some/many are certainly genuine problems to those involved, and people will occasionally get angry. I became angry at someone this year (for the first time in 23 years of NATs attendance) so I understand it. I think I was justified, but so does everyone else who gets mad. The issue can either be dealt with and de-escalate, or they can diverge into a larger problem.
