F2B Team Trials

2023 Team Trials --- October 7-8, 2023

I am the event director for the 2023 F2B Team Trials that will be held at my home field in Houston.  The dates of the contest are October 7 and 8, 2023, with the 9th as a contingency day.  The site is Scobee AirField in the George Bush Park located on the west side of Houston.  This contest is to select the four member USA F2B team; 3 senior members and one junior member.

Attached are the entry form for the contest and a file of contestant information.  Early entry is to be made by 7 September to AMA.  Entry may be made at the field subject to a late entry fee addition. 

Also attached are maps of the field location and motel / hotel information for the area.  The selection of lodging ranges from five stars on down.   Check the internet, I know that some of the motels have changed and others added.

The 2015 TT contest was held here and we selected the USA team for the Australian F2 world champs.  The weather, for that contest was beautiful, like it is normally in early October for us here on the gulf coast.  The 2017 trials were to be here also, but Hurricane Harvey put the field under 10 feet water up until a few weeks before the contest, and we ultimately relocated to Dallas.  We often say, “if it wasn’t for October, no one would live down here”.  We expect perfect weather and a large turnout of top flyers for this contest.

The field has two grass practice circles and two smooth concrete circles for official flights.  Quadrant marker poles are on both circles for pilots and judges maneuver reference.

We will have a pilots meeting at 2pm on Friday at a local place to be announced.
