Anybody out there ever build one of these?  How is it compared to the original design?  Thanks.

I am finishing one up now (clearing) and it is identical as far as I can see. The wood is of course much better.  Right now mine weighs in at about 11,5-12 oz minus hdw.  I expect about 25 oz finished which is heaver than some, but ok with me.
Power will be an OS 25 FP with the boost port blocked. I plan to fly with an APC 9x5 prop, and hope to go to Houston Tex next month for the all S-1 Ringmaster contest put on by Dee Rice and David Gresens.
  Good luck with yours........... H^^ H^^ D>K

Shawn: The kit is excellent, all laser cut all hardware included with allowable upgrades, tip box adjustable lead outs etc. I have a stock Fox 35 on mine and really enjoy it. It's also sturdy, I've planked mine  several times with nothing more than bent needle and torn silkspan.

Pat Johnson has done a nice plan for a Ringmaster "Lite".  It shows the orginial S1 OTS design but also shows enhancements that can be made to make a light weight version. e.g. 1/16" formed LE or cutout LE, alternative wing spar design or original, carbon fibre pushrods, honey combed plywood parts etc These mods are intended to get the finished all up weight to around 23-24 oz and make it only suitable for a .25 engine or smaller. And it is still OTS and PAMPA legal.

The latest version of the RSM kit uses a built-up LE with a vertical sheet spar so that the LE is now a "D" tube the same size and shape as the old solid carved piece.  Stiffer and stronger as well as lighter.  It is a little more work, but worth it.  Eric will also supply 1/32 plywood cheeks if you are going to use a modern 25 engine.  If a really light engine like the Brodak 25 is used with a light tongue muffler, it is possible to build one at 20 oz.  Mine weighed 21 oz with an FP20.  Still OTS legal.

Phil..that looks like an older fox with the 2 hole vertical mounting screws..if so, what length and size hardware did toy use to mount it to the engine?
