Title: RSM Mark 1
Post by: Leester on January 22, 2008, 03:34:04 PM
Well since my flying really bites and to reach some goals I set for myself I figured starting at the beginning should help. There is another motive, I gave my oldest son (37) an RSM Mark 1 for Christmas 3 years ago and after he glued the wing and plans to his building board I helped him fix everything. He lives about 40 miles away so we can't get together as much as we'd like. Anyway he hasn't touched it since so I thought building one might get him interested again. I modified the fusalage and rudder a little and covered the fusalage in 1/64 " ply. These are great kits but I don't see many on the forums and I'd think they'd fly just fine. It will be powered by a Magnum 25 and covered in Ultrakote or Sig Aerokote. As is weights 26 3/4 oz. Should be fun.

Lee,
As always looks nice. You do good work.

The wing shape looks a lot like a Twister. Is the fuse lite ply? Hollow?

No sheeting on the TE?

Very clean.

The fusalage is 2 pcs 1/4" balsa laminated, but it warped and I was able to straighten it with the ply. There is no sheeting on the TE but I do have stationary flaps to add yet. thanks Paul

I got it finished. It's porkier than I wanted at 33 oz. but it balances just where the plans show with only the tank to add on. I also got my son over and worked on his. Sitting for several years and his cat didn't help it, but nothing we can't fix.

Dave: That is the adjustable tank mount that comes with the kit. I just covered it in black covering.
