Routines--- Don't change it!!!!
« on: July 17, 2010, 04:46:15 PM »

Hey there guys,,, I have one point to make!!!  DO NOT CHANGE YOUR ROUTINE!!

It can come back to bite you hard when you least expect it!!   I know this for a

fact now!!!   Practice flying tacking motor with left hand and needling with right

hand cost me a trip to the emergency room pronto.  Got lucky,,only one stitch

and lost some skin on my pinky.  I am even more so respectful of the prop as

my skin will lose every time..   I should also note that I was flying alone, but

very grateful that Diane showed up at the same time that the accident occurred

and could take my sorry butt to the ER.  Be careful and fly safe!!!  Alan

Hello Alan,

That is right. Do not change your routine! It saves you from injuries and will also prevent crashes.

Alan --

Your post and accident surprised me! I always thought you (and Ken) were more safety conscience than most flyers.   :) Even burping engines, you take full precautions, my observation.

As I recall, you're the guy who converted me to twist-off igniters as a "finger saving" tip.

Alan,
Dont you go and permanently damage your self, I have 2 more aircraft that have to come up from Fla,
LOL.
Seriously take a few minutes and think. Everytime that I have changed my routine I have been either unsure or nailed. But thankfully never a trip to the emergency room.

We had about four guys at the NW Regionals this year cut themselves with props because they altered their routines.

It was good meeting you at the Nats, Alan.  I hope you heal nicely and don't need your finger for much in the meanwhile.

Yet another plug for those "remote" glo plug connectors.  The package contains all you need, and easy to install.  Having the battery connector several inches from that prop will go a long way towards "zero cuts".

Little finger hit the back side of the prop while setting needle valve. It cut down to the muscles and took 1/4 x3/8 piece of skin off it will be OK in time. :) #^

Yes some injuries will heal and leave a scar as reminders.  That is why I leave the blood on the props and airplanes.  In racing it is not unusual to get a cut or two.   H^^

Hi Alan

Sorry to hear about your injury.   Seems to me you showed me how to do that correctly when we were at Brodaks ?????   Thanks  -- but then I've heard model planes are the reason we'er born with so many fingers anyway ?????

Perfect pratice makes perfect.

That being said I think the number 1 cause of dryfires in archery is caused by changing routine.
So yes, following a routine and sticking with it from beginning to end in every sport does help to prevent problems.
