If this Blankety-blank cold weather continues very much longer here in Tucson, I'm going to have to sell my airplanes and buy some warm clothes!

37 degrees at my house at 1:00 PM and it's sunny...that's gotta be a record.

Give me 100+ degrees any time!

Walking backwards in a circle does help you warm up, though.

It's lower than freezing and snowing, here in the Willamette Valley. Generally, that means that it'll be warming up in a few days...

I rode in several cross country motorcycle races in northwest Ohio in the 70's mostly sponsored by Penton Motorcycles. Summer and Fall mostly and it was cold and wet even then...fantastically beautiful country though. Lots of MUD!

80's this week perfect flying weather, got the KOI in Jacksonville this weekend!!!!! should be good weather...

The picture below was taken last week by a grandfather on his mobile phone at a place called Dunalley in Tasmania

It's of his wife and the grandkids sheltering under their jetty as a bushfire consumes their home and everything combustible around them.

The strange red tinge comes from the fire around them and the light filtered through the thick smoke.

All survived including the family dog.

Last week the peak summer temperature reached in central Australia almost reached 50 degrees C, about 122 degrees F.

Hi Ray,
Here in Arizona we're very familiar with temperatures like that and Brush fires also in the summertime when everything dries out.
Most of them are confined to the open spaces here in AZ however, but occassionaly one encroaches on occupied territory also.
I can stand the heat but not the cold. Old bones creak a lot more in the cold.

In summer we fly from about 6:00 AM til 10:00 or so when it gets too hot to breathe. Home to a cool one then.

Usually at this time of year (very winter) in Tucson AZ we enjoy daytime temps of 70-75 F. This cold snap we're having is very unusual. Al Gore says it's because of Global warming...warming???how come my teeth are chattering then.

I went flying with the guys at Huntersville Saturday .It was 72 degrees,70 today. Very odd weather for NC

Just left sunny beautiful 80 degree Orlando for another week in Portland in the grey and rain. Want to go to KOI- but don't get home until midnight Fri. Not enough time to get un-packed /packed and drive to JAX. Too bad - I wanted to meet Matt Colan in person. Good luck Matt5!!!

Well I am doing duty with temps in the teens. Did get above freezing in the afternoon. Had to go to a lighter coat in he afternoon.

Cool and damp is the best time to race an enduro! Got to ride the ISDT Reunion Ride in 2009 in McArthur (sp?), Ohio. Keep an eye out for the release of a movie about John Penton next year, about to go into production. John is a cool guy, and so is the rest of the clan. That's a reason why I haven't built any models recently, working on 4 Penton projects, but the C/L stunt models are always within reach!

Heck, it's even cold here in the Calif central valley. I'm working on my '66 VW, at 49* in the garage...I know some of you fellows brave it, but it's tough on this tenderfoot!

I DIDN"T go to a desert race this past weekend. AM temp at the start line was at or near 20º. I posted a question on our desert race website, "How cold was it?" Got several replies, this was the gem, "It was colder than my ex-wife in bed!"

Randy, weren't you the guy that said come to Arizona? Get away from that cold, dark, rainy Washington. My heart bleeds. It will be in the 70s momentarily there so cheer up. It won't be here.

When I first met my wife's uptight old grandmother, it was a 29 degree day in January. (1978) We had just arrived, and when we came in the old woman asked if it was cold out there, I unthinkingly replied, "Yeah, colder than jail."

I know that you people aren't used to cold temperatures, but up here in Connecticut, we're getting ready for a snowstorm to come in and dump a couple of more inches on us. So much for fly'in.

Yeah Randy...that was me. I'm probably being punished for all my bragging about the weather here. Either that or it's all just a plot by Al Gore to get back at me for all the bad things I've said about him in the past.
