In 64 I remember a young sailer carrying a camera and note pad.   He was looking for the Meriwethers.   His last name was Meriwether and turns out they were related from distant relatives.  Papa Meriwether nad this sailers signatures were almost identical.  Maybe if we had a photo of the Navy Judges the CSI group could get their names of the uniforms. See what happens to a "Squid" when trying to post an intelligent question. LL~

Seriously Ty, I have a close cousin who was active Navy at the NATS...What year? Where? I'll have to ask him. He has watched us fly and has related to me comments about "his mandatory participation" at a National Contest in the late 60s or early 70s. He may have some helpful information. I'll ask him.

I have a photo of myself and LCDR  R.L. Jones . He is presenting me with a trophy for winning Sr. Combat at the 1969 Willow Grove, Pa. NATS.
I don't know if he judged stunt, but if he is alive and can be found, he just might be able to identify the  '69 Willow Grove Stunt judges  that appear in a picture that Wynn  has in connection with John D'Ottavio's application for Stunt Hall of Fame.

At the NAVY NATS, you were photographed with the serviceman shaking your hand and presenting the award. The photo was sent to the newspaper that you indicated on your NATS application.

Hi Dave,

Was at Glenview  NAS 70, 71, and 72.

By the time I reached year three, the area almost looked as familiar as my neighborhood. ;)

I was trying to remember about '72,  I was thinking that was Lake Charles but your memory is better ( I hope).  Frank, were in on our 'Whiz kids' watermelon patch raids,  the bonfire party or pouring one certain SR stunt champ in and out of the local drinking establishments?  ( Did I admit to anything?)

Dave, I think 74 was the first of several Lake Charles NATS.   Isn't 72 the year theo old Dodge wagon let us down on the way home.  I know for sure the 70 NATS was my brother Bob and our wives in the camper.  Also I think 72 was whn we got there early and couldn't get on base.  One big party outside the gate.   H^^

Yes Doc, you are right.  First you lose your hair, then your mind....I remember trying to sleep on the hood of that old Dodge that night we got there.  That was the year of the beer tent with the bluegrass band.  I knew where to find you! I think that was the year I put the Argus in the pavement in the rain storm. I remember trying to find enough lead to put in the nose of Cathy Bernsteins ship.  I did the cranking on your Mac .60 in class II.  McGinty had the 58 mph high speed, 58 mph slow speed and 58 mph deck landing.  Think I missed 73', then did Lake Charles twice.  Learned NEVER to ask for directions in Loooziana.

Thanks Hoss for clearing it up.  Short of keeping the thread going and hopes somebody sees it and remembers something helpful I'm not sure where names will come from. Olathe, Willow Grove and Glenview are all long-closed now and even duty rosters are likely gone.  Just have to get lucky here.
