Out of North Carolina..
« on: March 16, 2013, 09:24:02 PM »
Nice drive today from Fayetteville NC, back to my mom and dads place in Waynesburg PA. Monday I am going to Brodaks hobby shop (about 12 miles away) just to stumble around and look. I have not been there in about 20 years..

It's a Control line Hobby shop/ Video rental store. Their factory is right down the road a bit.

If you do a little bit every day it will get done, or you can do it tomorrow.

What town was that, Pat?

My father's family settled in Marianna when they first came here.  My grandmother's father died in the big mine explosion in 1908.

Not much left there any more since Bethlehem closed the mine in 1988.

Hey Pat,
I grew up in SW Pittsburgh (Scott Township), Washington, PA and Steubenville, OH.
Do you remember the hobby shop in Dormont - AB Charles?
Used to go there after church as a kid. Lots of neat stuff to oogle at in the 60's.

Douglas,

The 60's was just a tick before my time. I used to spend a pretty good bit of time in Washington, but as far as ANY hobby shops go, I was only even in one as a kid, and that was one trip to Brodaks while it was still in his garage as they were constructing a new (the current?) building, to by dope for a Guillows P-51 probably about 1983-84. I only got into CL flying about 2001, at Ft. Bragg NC, I started building a Sig Twister, and Forum member and hobby shop owner Alan Hayes mentioned he needed to order something from Brodaks. This caught me by suprise as I knew nothng at all about the CL world, and felt pretty sheepish about having to leave home to find out about the great hobby, and the fact that my home county hobby shop was such a bastion for CL stuff.
