Title: Ringtail
Post by: Bill Hodges on December 21, 2007, 07:31:10 AM
I have acquired the plans for an airplane called the "Ringtail" designed by R. H. Hammond.  It has a 28.5" span with twin tail booms and takes a 15.  Does anyone know when it was disigned and how it flys?

On the plans I got down in the lower right hand corner it says  "xmas 1959".   I plan on changing the pushrod to exit the bottem of the wing.  I figure it is another design just for fun like the canard I have.  And yes the canard will do the full pattern when weather is not too windy and I get the needle set right.  DOC Holliday

Thanks Doc.  It is so cute,I think I will build it just for grins and if it flys good, that's even better.  I am thinking of using an LA 15 on it.

I remember seeing the plans for the Ringtail someplace, and met Hammond at the '79 World FF Champs in Taft, California. He died a few years later. Probably not a related incident, but maybe. He played guitar on a "bush band" Downunder, but probably had a real job, too. "Tie me kangaroo down, Sport", etc. Ewwww!  LL~ Steve
