rings for lines

  I saw rings tied on spectra lines, I think, that were used in fishing, but they were tied on these lines to use line clips to help connecters at the handle and at the lead outs, can some one point me in the right direction for these?  For some reason Cabella's  fishing stores is "ringing a bell" ...but I don't know what they are called...

I think you are referring to snap swivels.

They have them @ cabelas. Search for stainless steel split rings. You  might find them cheaper at one of the internet fishing tackle websites.

Good old Cabelas.....years ago I bought some pretty expensive sunglasses there.  They were "guaranteed for life."

They broke.  I took them back to get a replacement.  "Well, they are not guaranteed for your life" says the clerk in Returns and refuses to replace them!  So, apparently Cabelas guarantees the product for its own life.  Once it is broke - well, that's the life of the product!  Guaranteed right up to the time it breaks!   

It was just like the Seinfeld episode when he made a rental car reservation: The rental car agency would make the reservation, but they wouldn't keep it....

Suffice it to say I have never darkened the doorstep of Cabelas since.

Better than round split rings, you can buy oval split rings from various sources. This will keep your line out of the split, and that's a very good thing. Bass Pro Shop (who now owns Cabela's) has them on their website.  Tackle Warehouse is a superior place to buy fishing tackle, IMO, plus I really hate the BPS website. Try both and you'll see what I mean!  I looked up oval split rings quickly on TW's website...however, they have two sizes, and which size to get is a mystery to me, and there's no tellin' which is big and which is small. I'd call and ask, or order both.   Steve

Why not tie the lines directly to a clip and eliminate one piece of hardware (the ring) at the airplane end at least? Think of a clip as an "extreme oval."

Probably to use custom line clips to adjust neutral for hard point handles. Gotta be able to change clips, or to be more accurate, one clip. Plus, the double wire end of this type clip can't attach to a hardpoint handle, so you'd have to plan for that. Steve

Right on.  I made up a set of Spectra lines last year that are tied directly to the clip on one end but tied to normal Sullivan ferrules (rings) on the other end so I can use them with my hard point handles.

You can get Split Rings at Academy sports in the fishing section... usually by the hooks or weights. Plus its usually cheaper than Cabella/bass pro.
