Ringmaster Roundup & Flyathon 2018
« on: October 07, 2018, 10:34:58 AM »
Although the wx looks a little threatening, we're going out and give it a try at Ringmaster Ranch, just a little North of Iola and North Zulch, Texas. Today IS the Day, Matt Kania's Birthday, well, maybe not, but, it's when we, "The Brotherhood of the Ring" celebrate it.

Bro Dee Rice down at Scobee in Houston is overseeing what may be "The Last Roundup" (anyone recall the song, by Gene Autrey and others?) this weekend. This Roundup is more a Fly-in, all flights counting in the "Ringmaster Flyathon", being held concurrently.

What a ride it has been! From a few decades ago, when many modelers knew not of Matt Kania, to this spectacle, where thousands and thousands fly their Ringmasters, all over the world.

Huge thanks to Dee Rice and John Cralley and so many others.  I extend the secret handshake, known and understood  only to the Brothers of the Ring, to us all,

dale g

I managed 2 flights on my ol Ringer this morning in Zachary.

Was on a very limited play time with the club. Having to leave for Corpus Christi again at 230pm today and I live little over an hour from the Bi-Liner field and had roughly 2 hours to get flights in between everyone and still drive home to get ready for the roadtrip.

All together only 5 flights were made today at our field that Im aware of. Yesterday was rain so that put a damper on burnin a gallon of 10/22 in my Now retired ringmaster.

Hope to see you and Lovely Linda Bob soon Mr. Dale!

Well the old DOC didn't get any flights in.  Even asked if someone would help for just one flight so I wouldn't have to set up the stooge.  You know roll out lines, hook up, start engine, fly and then roll up lines.   But can't complain as we need the rain. D>K

Doc, there maybe a grace period for situations such as you, yourself, find yourself in.  Maybe,

With all the rain we have had I'm afraid of getting stuck.   Usually a lake on the east and west side of the circle.  Got stuck mowing one year. D>K

Besides I don't think my flight would matter that much. Z@@ZZZ
