Ringmaster Jr. Bi-Plane

Well it is finally ready for a pilot to fly it.   Power is LA .25 blue.  Made minor changes to the plane like sheeting the top side of top wing as well as the bottom of it,  I also centered the strut between fuselage and wing as a previous plane had set up like the plans and top wing departed on about it 6th flight.   Only real problem was the ribs breaking where the holes on trailing edge kept breaking off for the guide tubes.   Other than that it is a great kit.   Will give flight report when it happens.

Looks great Doc !

  The one I assembled with the
Ringmaster Jr. wings and S2 fuse
is also pulled by a LA.25.
Plenty of power.

 I have learned that the correct prop
choice makes a big difference to
how capable it is.

  Len Bourel flew the entire pattern
with mine on the second flight, and
Phil Spillman seemed to enjoy adding
a couple of patterns to it at
Brodak's.  These are capable little
planes but Not as precise as the
standard S2.

I plan on using a 9-6 or 9-5 prop.  I have only two Bi-Planes I would do the pattern with.  But, like the SIG Fokker they are attention getters and fun to play with.

Neat looking airplane!  What is the wing area and weight?  At first glance a .25 seems more than needed, but the eyes can deceive ...

I think Pat has all the details on his Vendors site.  Yes a 25 sounds like over powering it.  But my 20 went into the Lively Lady.  That is where prop selection controls the power.  No I haven't weighed it as it feels light to me.  Also it balances right on the money.

It is a fun plane to fly.  As with any bi-plane it gets attention.  I never tried doing the pattern with it.   Now it has been several years since it was last flown.

This is an old thread so I'm reluctant to
bump it  up but I want to add
a picture of my Ringmaster Bipe.

  This is just a full size S2 Ringmaster
fuselage with Jr Ringmaster wings.
It's fun to fly and it's decently capable.

  Power is a LA .25 with the tank mounted
inboard. It's a good power system for this
plane.

Makes you wonder , seeing Johns Picture , about the old Biplane Adage " The wings HAVE to be 1x Chord Seperate .

Like most ' rules ' Depends on the game . Obviously theres NO shortage of wing area , but with the THIN WINGS
the closerness  means the ' flying duct ' effect is ALSO a consideration .

Theres probly some point where theres more of one than another - Duct / seperate flow .
But as Its CONSISTANCY we blokes are after , it might be worth a ' thin wing - duct ' Biplane effort ?

The Airborne Mag. plan for a TRIplane DR1 stunt was virtually two ducts , as it was not narrow chord - Profile triplane . Bi slobable act Airborne .

Have gotten very serious about Pat Kings Ringmaster Bipe 45 and plan to build it this season.

Anyone have experience with it flying, it is supposedly a capable stunter.  Planning on using a LA 46.
