BOTR has several who have S-1 plans, plus Pat Johnston has a OTS legal "Lite" version that out flies the box stock ones.   No dimensions or airfoil changes, just some tweaks to the construction.  Once built there is no discernible difference from a Sterling kit S-1.  Plus, Pat can laser cut you the ribs at a very very competitive price.  Or a complete kit.....  The biggest "change" is the "molded" LE which is a direct copy of the "unobtainium" solid LE material, yet they will float off the bench if you don't weight them down.  If you build one of his "Gold Kits" over 21 oz, you done something wrong! LOL!!

Eric Rule has an awesome kit, also, and I "think" Pat King cuts ribs and maybe a full kit for the S-1

Not sure how the ones other than Pat J's are as far as the construction of the LE.  Pat J's is molded using laser cut formers and foam then the sheeting wrapped around it.  SUPER light and strong, and the same "final size" as that piece of 15lb mahogany that Sterling used to try and pass off as a balsa LE! LOL!!!!

I don't do S1 Ringmasters, there are enough vendors without me. I do sell Ringmaster Jr. laser cut kits, Baby Ringmaster, Beginners Ringmaster, Beginners Ringmaster Bipe, and Ringmaster Sportster kits. All are laser cut. There are free S1 plans on the Brotherhood of the Ring site.

What instructions do I give to the Kinko's folks to get the proper scale?

It has been a while since I have had them print plans for me but I seem to recall that they can get them right using the scale at the lower left on the plans. The wing span is 42 inches if that helps. Also I think (but could be wrong) that if you use the PDF file, you simply have them printed at 100%.

I hope that those in the know will chime in here if I have it wrong!!

By the way, I believe a set can be printed from the PDF file on a regular printer using the tile mode at 100% (it would be a lot of pages  )

The first time I went to Staples with plans on a disc, I had to go through that with the older gentleman who was running the printer.  He pulled it up on the computer screen and the read out was 27%.  "What size do I print it?"  I told him to "try 100%" ...... guess what......... it worked.  The plans were perfect. 

By far the easiest way I have ever printed plans! (sometimes even reprinting "printed plans" can get messed up!  take a pocket ruler to check the "Scale" on the plans)

Hi George!

Yes, a good sanding block, some carving blades, and even a razor plane, will yield fantastic results (for those of us who are not as lazy as I am! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!).  As more and more days go by, I panic more and more.  Less days left to build more airplanes!   AT least my wife has finally progressed in her recovery to the point that I can leave her long enough to go to the basement (phone has "intercom"! LOL!!) and get some work done!

A friend actually gave me 6 pieces of the old LE material that were all "bowed".  I have straightened them all out as needed.  Not as hard as it seems, thank the Lord for CA and razor saws........
