Title: Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon Rain/Wind dates
Post by: John Cralley on October 04, 2015, 05:24:03 AM
Due to bad weather Dee Rice, Grand Master of the Ring, has decided to allow "Rain/Wind" dates! Fly-A-Thon flights can be made on any two days from Oct. 5th through Oct. 11th inclusive. Reports MUST be submitted by 12:00 PM EDT Tuesday Oct. 13, 2015

Rain/Wind reports will be added as an appendix to the Official Final Report and will count toward the Grand Total Flights.

Dave Miller and myself garnered 23 RM flights today. (Neither of us were available on Sat.)  We sent these flights to Portland's "Fireballs Club to be added along with their scores. We had a perfect flying day here in Eastern WA. Most flights were with full tanks. If we had used 1oz tanks we could have had nearly 50 flights or so, but just didn't want to overdo our energy. Another great day for two old beat up guys!

This is indeed GREAT NEWS! We who live in the greater Hampton Roads Area have been treated to four solid days of high winds, driving rains and near hurricane weather. I had asked off work just to be able to fly in the Ringmaster Fly-a-Thon and was totally bummed out when this "Front" blew in. You can be sure that I'll get my flights in before the end of the allotted period runs out!

Well Melvin has the totals for the TOPClass Ringmaster go.  I didn't get to fly Saturday.  Did make it up today and flew with the guys.   Didn't  push myself this year.  Couldn't ask for better weather.

Mike, we don't put up with that kind of Bull at our field (we do have a pretty big ground hog though).

Great, I sure got blown out and would have gotten wet too if I'd tried to fly!!!!

Average 20 mph winds. The hardy flyers here in Maine put that in the , "What wind???" category!

Don Coe on the left, Sandy Schmidt and myself. 18 flights. 5 of the Ringmasters were at least 30 years old (patched and fixed along the way) with corresponding vintage engines. A Stallion 35, a Greenhead 35, a Fox Rocket 15 and a vintage Cox. One of Don's Ringmasters was electric.

Jim Kraft...you know we all can't finish a plane as beautifully as you do...it's actually difficult to tell any of my planes from a cowpie!  And they fly only marginally better...a cow patty Frisbee floating through the blue Texas sky is just a thing of beauty,  something we all can agree on!

Factoid: Texans were hurling cowpatties before Duke Fox was born!

The above pictured Ringers, Mike Greb, Bill Bischoff, Bob Howard, take their Ringmaster flying quite seriously in the perfect conditions enjoyed. One fellow, sitting, has a Lockheed Vega semi-scale that's hard to believe is a highly modified Ringmaster.....

Dale; Thats why I love you Texans. You can walk thru the cowpies and come out smelling like a rose. The Yellow Rose OF Texas you know. I did get out saturday with a friend and we flew 9 flights before He had to leave. I would have loved to have been flying with you guys. Wish I could have made Tulsa just to keep some of you honest in Old Time. LOL. Looks like you whupped up on all the experts pretty good. Hopefully next year will be better for Lova and I.

That guy with the Lockheed Vega has been known to use artist license before. And a darned good job he does. Das is uno of the best looking Ringmasters I have seen.

Yeah he does have a way with CAD drawings, I working on one of his Ringmaster variants now.   Trible is making my hardware after he returns from the team trials.
