Joey Mathison and several fellow Las Vegas fliers will be flying a bunch of Ringmasters from a Baby RM up to a 1000 sq inch giant. See the quote below.  I sure would not miss it if I was in that "neck of the woods"!! Joey promises to do a mass flight of several RMs though I doubt if the 1000 RM will be one of them.

"In Las Vegas we will be flying at Vo-Teck High. We start at 7 am.
That is both Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd !!"

I will be flying my RM 576 and RM XXL (world's largest profile RM ) There's going to be a large bunch of other well known CL guys from District VIII at the Rice Memorial...Why not join us and let's show those RC dudes how it was done back in the day....We had a blast last year...gonna be a bigger one this year..."

Hi John, There will be a bunch of us down here in Fentress, VA who I am sure will be flying Ringmasters no matter which version! We did it last year when Willis Swindell was the bow sprit for our group! This will be a fine memento to his fine efforts over the years. We'll git her done!

Thanks Phil,

Do you have a contact so that others in the area can find out where and when?? There may be others outside of your group that would like to join in. Could be a good way to meet/recruit other CL fliers.

Well I will send out another feeler to the TOPCLASS group in Topeka.  If nothing happens between now and then I will be there with my one and only Ringmaster I have that I did not build.  I did assemble it tho.  The fuse, wings and tail surfaces were done waiting to be assembled when it was put in my care.   H^^

I think that's a Lindsay Lohan doll. Although, I would think it more appropriate for a train wreck, than an airplane crash.

Hello,
Count N.W. Ohio in for a couple flights.I just finished an Electric RSM OTS Legal Ringmaster in time to compete at the FCM contest in Muncie. It had a trim issue but that is fixed and she flies GREAT.I used lots of carbon mat during construction and it weighed in at 24 oz. ready to fly.I have a half dozen batteries so I can get one charged by the time I run them out so I can keep adding the flights.I will post the total Monday.Jeff

I flew my RM yesterday, Friday, for several flights. Today and tomorrow dist. 8 is having an annual contest in Garland just east of Dallas, Texas. Today is a stunt clinic and an unlimited profile stunt. Tomorrow is PAMPA stunt. If you are in this area come out and fly with us. My little RM has a FP .25 on it. I had forgotten how much fun these little planes are. I also have a large RM on electric power...........yet to be flown. I also have a RM 576 kit yet to build for one of my LA.46s  Jim at Control Line Central in Albuquerque has a RM Imperial hanging in his hobby shop. It is the only one I have ever seen. I remember the ads for it in the model magazine when I was a kid some 50 years ago.

My witnesses and I just got home from the field.  Nothig like reliable equipment, not.  The Fox .35 I put on the plane had not been run in a while.  The fuel tank was a GRW 3.5 ounce brand new out of the package.  I have a pic of the Rinmaster in the camera.  Decided to run engine before hooking up lines.  All it would do was run out prime.  After filling tank all the way it finally started.   Get on circle and hook up lines and the stooge.  Still had a little trouble getting it to start, but finally got 8 laps out of it.  Nothing like a plane playing kite on the side of the circle going into the wind.  Broke the prop and knock wheel off the axle.  It was up against the fuse.  Wheel back in place and new prop.  Discovered while filling tank it had leaks.  Hurried up and got started and took off.  Doing loops and lazy 8's it quit.  Spread the gear out on this landing(controlled crash).  So I want to fly the Ring again.  Plug both fill and overflow.  Got about 30 laps this time and the girls, Sandy(the demented poodle) and Prissy(my legal mexican chihuahua) said it is time to call it quits.  I guess it is breezy when the plane stops forward motion going into the wind.  So do I get credit for three flights even tho I have no human witnesses other than those driving by.   H^^

So O.K., John, where did you go to fly that pesky Ringmaster?  Last time I tried to get to the Northern Knights field, it was completely blocked off.  Have you found another field or did you go to Topeka?  I have two flyable Ringmasters, one with wheels and a Fox .35 stunt and one without wheels and a Fox .29 stunt.  I didn't get to fly anything today and if the wind keeps up I will likely come up with a big goose egg for this years Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon.  Oh well, there is always next year....TDurrill... ???    H^^

The Norfolk Aeromodelers put up 14 flights in the wind and rain today. We flew at Fentress Airfield, (1988 Nats site), located in Chesapeake, VA. A shot of the “all weather flyers” are left to right:  Phil Spillman,  Bill Sequira,  Bobby Mathison, Jimmy Welch and Wade Miner. I was behind the camera.

Finally the rain subsided and the breeze came. It was a chilly 6 C but five daring Balsa Beaver members posted 13 flights in Centennial Park Toronto Ontario Canada. Now we are hooked we are going to build a couple more Ringmasters for next year. It was good fun today.  I learned to fly with a Beginners Ringmaster in about 1968 and graduated to the S1. Back then we thought it was "huge" and my Mom suggested we would probably cut an arm off with it.  n1 These flights have been reported to the official Flyathon site.

The Fluvanna County R/C Flying Club had it's annual Fall Flyin on Saturday October 2nd, 2010.  This year we had a mixed bag of R/C, C/L and we even had some FAC free flights!  We had 5 "official" Ringmaster flights with 3 different pilots and 4 different planes.  We had a first timer, a young lady R/C flyer for her first CL flight on a Sterling S1A for a complete tank of fuel.  She is a former ballet dancer so spinning in circles was a non-event.  There was a smile from ear to ear on her pretty face at the end of her flight and there will be C/L planes in her future!
The planes included
Sterling S1A w/ Fox 35
Pat Johnston R/M with OS LA25
Sterling 15 RM with Fox 15
Pat Johnston Baby Ringmaster w/ Cox .049 Baby Bee
Dave Beazley

We flew a Jr. Ringmaster at the Salem, OR Fall Follies yesterday.
Some of us even carried on cell phone conversations when we did it.  Presumably to show off, although that wasn't apparent (pictures were taken, Howard).

After a landing that seemed like it bounced chest-high at my Very First Complete Pattern at a contest, I greased in that stupid little Ringmaster as good as any of the Intermediate fliers did, with no bounce at all.  I didn't know if I should have laughed or cried.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

That was a good-flying little Ringmaster, wasn't it?  Thanks for the use of the lines.

The Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon on Oahu, Hawaii was attended by ten (10) flyers and totaled 40 flights for both Saturday and Sunday.  Mainly S1 Ringmasters were flown along with one Super Ringmaster and one S1A version.  The weather was a mix of some misty rain, sunshine and moderate trade winds. A heart felt thanks to the wives and girl friends for bringing lunch and desert on Sunday and helping with the flight count.  It was also very nice to see some of the flyers who have been unable to fly recently due to health concerns out at the field on Sunday, the camaraderie was priceless.

Aloha,

Mike Wada:)

Here is an update with a few flights that were reported on forums but that were not reported to the official email address.

859!!!

Attached is a word file of the tabulations.

Thanks to all that participated. This is a statement that control line modeling is still alive and kicking!!

Next year (1st weekend in October) we will hit that GOAL of over one thousand flights in one weekend!!!!

UPDATE:

Add in a few that just failed to report (thought the other guy was doing it LOL):

872!!!

Wow makes for a REAL challenge next year!!
 (October 1-2, 2011)!!
