Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon

Hello Guys,

This weekend is the Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon weekend.

I am attaching a picture of Jim Deutsch with his BRAND NEW Ringmaster at Airmasters Field in Sebastian, FL .  It flew very nice.

Very cool. Our club flew as well today and will again tomorrow. One airplane got 40 flights.

Hey we got 42 as well here in Dresden On. Canada on 8 ringmasters It was a short day compared to normal.

We had three S-1 ringmasters and eleven flights.great weather.

We had a nice day of Fly-A-Thoning at River Rouge Park in Detroit, despite gusting winds and impending rain.

We got 131 flights with 6 pilots and 7 airplanes.  We hoped for better with the throttle jobs, but the wind rough field didn't cooperate.

We plan to go again next Saturday hoping for better conditions although it is something of a longshot.

Steve Kott's Batmaster uses a full-out eight channel airplane RC system.

Colombo's beauty contest entry did short flights with a tiny tubing bladder.

My NEW blue & orange Ringmaster was knocked out in under seven days, starting from making the rib templates.  This was a zero cost job relying on bench stock alone.  I departed from my 2.4G fad of the last ten years and went with 3-lines.

The 2023 stats "world wide" are not posted yet but up here in Syracuse NY we contributed even with it being a rainy cold day. The eight of us flew 5 different Ringmaster style models totaling 30 flights at the STARS RC field. As promised during the 2022 event I would bring along a Pat King Ringmaster Bipe and his Ringmaster Auto Gyro I would build over the year for this years event. Two of the guys flew their Ringmasters together in the same circle in the pouring rain wearing hooded ponchos. And yes our engines will run in rain with near 100% humidity but we must inadvertently adjust the mixture (leaner) to account for the moisture displaced O2...that was a side line discussion that came up while standing under our umbrellas.

We had a great weekend in Wichita. There were 7 pilots flying 8 airplanes. One airplane flew 140 flights. In all we accumulated 171 flights between us all. It's rare the Wichita gets two nice flying days in a row without a bunch of wind but we did. The one Ringmaster which flew the 140 flights was an older model that was converted to electric power using a direct replacement pod I made. The pod is designed such that the original mounts can be used with minimum modification. It worked out quite well. nd it looks kinda nice too. Here's a video I put together:

Well the old old DOC missed out again.  The grand daughter that was supposed to help me disappeared for the week end.  Amazing the some of the guys got so many flights.  The last time (quite a few years ago) Melvin and I were doing good until Paul had an injury.  Melvin took him to the emergency room to get stitched up.   We were using 1 ounce fuel tanks .  We could probably done better but club members were gone to a stunt contest out of town.  Using stooge, I found I could take off, do 3 inside loops followed by 3 out side loops and get ready to land.   Helps when you remember how to lead plane back close to the stooge.   Maybe next year, if I'm still around.

I am sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you to fly Doc. Maybe you can get in some flights through out the year. I was praying that things would work out for the four of us to fly this past Saturday and they were answered. The field we fly on is city property and many times the kids are using the field for little league or ball practice. Sometimes the grass is higher than normal and makes taking off tricky. When I arrived there the field was empty, grass cut short, low humidity, temp around 68 degrees, and no wind! Perfect field of dreams.

Thanks Jerry, I was hoping by now one of the guys at our event would have posted a video of the Bipe and the Auto Gyro flying. I especially wanted to hear what the Gyro sounds like.
