With recent "unidentified drones" spotted in the area, I've determined it prudent to cease all modeling activities while out here. Fortunately I got my fly-a-thon flights in before this all came down. Got 48 flights total (8 on fly-a-thon weekend). Going to strip it of salvageable components and do a biopsy on the bellcrank to see what that looks like. Thanks for all the support!

Sean;
Don't hack it apart.
Bring it back with you when you rotate back to the land of door knobs.
That plane will have flown in places that no other plane has or probably ever will.

Good on you brother for both the tenacity to do RM -Fly-A-Thon in a of bad/unique place
and making the E-7 list
and sending a few/many butt heads to meet their seven worn out virgins...I hope they all got the clap, syphilis, AIDs, crabs, and Herpes for eternity
Did you ever get the care package we sent?
-
HEY!!! Make sure you email me a good copy of that photo! Like it has been mentioned, keeping it in one piece would be cool also. Maybe retrofit a Fox.35 on it!!!!
Type at you later,
Dad

Yes I did! The coffee drinkers in my group thank you guys! I have also been conducting air assault missions in the laundry room with the helicopter LL~
Thanks again Freddo! I got a box headed your way shortly once all the components come back from Iraq.
My count is now 23 shots and 47 EKIA this trip #murica

That was the intent, but it turned out being REALLY expensive to mail a carton of that size BACK to the states, and the model wont fit back in the shipping carton quite the same and the chances of it being damaged are alot higher. All of this to mail home a pretty heavy model that was good for its intended purpose but not much beyond. High expense with low possibility of success. I might keep a piece of it, one of the wing panels maybe. I have an RSM kit waiting for me when I get home, and will build a new one to replace my poor 2007-era RM. Currently shopping for non-mil paint schemes.
Carl: I'm the first in awhile, but not THE first to fly control line in Kuwait! I hope he will chime in and elaborate, but Mikey Keville flew here several years ago.

Awesome picture, Sean. Wise move to keep your head down and 86 the Ringmaster. Please keep up the good work over there, sending those barbarians to meet with 72 Virginians. Maybe one of my ancestors from Virginia will mess 'em up? Hurry home and stay safe! H^^ Steve

That's a super cool pic Sean, and you HAVE to keep that airplane! Good thing one of your teammates didn't home in on that "unidentified drone"! :o
Also, that's a cover pic for MA if I've ever seen one. y1
