Just to remind everyone within striking distance, the Alameda AeroNuts are again hosting the Fourth of July fly-in and potluck. No need to bring anything except a plane and fuel. The weather has been pretty good, moderate temps and clear, but wind is always an issue. Flying is best finished by noon-ish due to wind so plan an early start.

Mike,
Do they still fly at the old Alameda NAS site?..... I used to sometimes fly there when I was stationed on Treasure Island Naval Base in 1961.

If it wasn't so far I would come and show you how to fly in the wind. When all else is on lthe ground, nothing beats a combat job on pressure. You guys/gals have fun. H^^

Hi Phil:
No, this is a dedicated Alameda city park reserved just for CL models. Located at intersection of Doolittle (yes THAT Doolittle, an Alameda native) and Harbor Bay Parkway on the shore of the Oakland estuary and San Leandro Bay. Official name is the Bill Osborne Model Field. Check it out on Google Maps or Google Earth. Not heaven on earth necessarily but at least it is ours.

Hey guys - enjoy your Independance Day 4/7/2010 fly-in!

Come on Ian, you are invited! I may be flying the Woburn Smoothie, still going strong and (as John Cleese once said) "relatively crash-free."

Okay what is the problem with the RO-Jets? Mine has been one sweet heart of an engine since day one. Using all synthetic fuel with the recommended prop. Windsor 11-4.5. H^^
