This is the prototype from which all Ugly Sticks emerged.

I thought you were going to say you're planning on kitting a CL version!

I'm mildly tempted to convert mine to CL, or to build a CL version.  Never enough to actually do it, mind you, but it's a fun idea to toy with.

My kit came looking close to that.NOT      I just sold a original ugly stick kit with the original K&B wheels like the original.

Hello
I'm sure a broom stick would have made a straighter build but that's not the effect they were going for!
On the REAL Ugly Stick 1970's style with scalloped flaps/ailerons and red paint job I did convert one to control line in the early 1980's .
It had a Fox Eagle 60 and two bellcranks and 4 lines. One bellcrank was elevator and flaps the other was throttle and rudder so it kicked out full rudder offset at low throttle and it could putter along hanging on the lines.
The novelty wore off real fast and it was sold off less bellcranks as an RC model again.
Don't know why I did it but being young and enthusiastic at the time accounted for a lot of my weird planes then (like all metal or all cardboard or made of things found in the kitchen like cling wrap, card board tubes and skewers). Didn't take pictures of everything back then like we do now, pity...

Regards Gerald

Funny you mentioned that Tim,  I had thought about trying to convert a Ugly Stick to CL too but never did.  I also thought that SIGs  4 Star 40 would have been a cool looking CL model.  Don't know if it would have flown worth a toot, but It looks good.

It's come full circle.  I can remember articles on how to convert Control line aircraft to RC.   y1

About 2008 I scratch built an almost Primary Force looking fuselage and installed a scratch built Ugly Stik 20 wing without ailerons/flaps. It flew quite well. 48 inch span, O.S. .40 LA.
I corrected the date and engine after checking my blog. I used the Primary Force fuselage as a template for this one.

Nice model Perry !
A delight to the eyes and good use of an R/C wing  , unlike the first model posted with the twig fuselage.

I'm sure that Phil Kraft rolled over in his grave when he saw that. Definitely a new meaning on the words Ugly Stick

Pretty PLEASE....make your pictures big enough to be visible! Somewhere between 600 & 800 pixels wide is nice.  y1 Steve
