Folks,
Just getting back into the flying thing. I've got a Starion 35 with a Max 35 FP that I'm going to fly. What fuel woud you suggest I use? What is a good source for fuel (nobody can even spell C/L here in the frozen tundra).

For the OS Max 35 fp I use 5 or 10% nitro with 20% oil half Castor half Syn. Sig Champion Fuel is what is most common in my area (Illinois).

SIG Champion 10% is goodfor the O.S., the K&B Stallion could use a bit more lube for insurance. You can add castor to bring it up to 25 - 28%. Do a search here - keywords " adding castor" or "increasing oil content" and there are mutiple posts that will give details.
Powermaster had a "GMA 10/28" blend that also works good if you can find it, reports are that it is back in production - but I can't remember who took it over. There are posts on this site with details- do another search and you'll find them.

Hi Bill,
I think you mis read the post (like I did the first time). ;D He has a Starion 35 (Dale Campbell design profile) with a OS 35 FP. Not a Stallion 35.
I missed that at first, myself. ;D

I use Sig Champion 10% nitro with 20% all castor and it seems to work great.

In Philly we use Powermaster 5%, 22%, 50/50. Sometimes we use 10%. We've set lots of these engines up. Use lots of them. And the very similar Tower 40. (I have a lifetime supply of FP/Tower engines.)

To me it depends on what part of this great country you fly in. I have used SIG, Power Master, Omega, Excaliber and a few others. You just have to remember not to lean the engine out too much and use the right prop for the area. Actually find out what the guys in your area are using. Then you can get together and order by the cases.

With my old steel/irpn FPs, I often use Sig 5% nitro and 25% all castor. 10% nitro when it gets really hot. But I have used the nitro content in Sig Champion 1/2 and 1/2 almost equally.
The FP was a strong engine!
