Should fly just fine. I have been flying the original version R/C for 25 years with an OS 60 open rocker four stroke. I have often thought it would make a good control line fun flyer. What are you going to put in it for and engine? Are you going to throttle it?

I'm workin on a .60 from an R/C friend of mine....I even thought about a certain .78. I may in fact use a throttle if I get the right engine. ;)

Well...I'm goin with a Fox .78 I just won on ebay for $50.........it's a one piece case so it should be fairly light, compared to the older style. But it has a carb....which means I need a venturi or a throttle control. n~

Finished length will be 44" from spinner to rudder, the top wing is 48". It's actually an R/C model I'm converting to C/L. Here's a picture of it straddling the back of my couch:

A word of caution...Your beautiful curved block Leading edge wing tips will NOT maintain the curve you carved when you apply the covering. The covering will shrink in a straight line from the rib to the sheet part of the tip. If you wish to maintain that curvature you'll need to add some wing tip ribs, or carve a whole block.

John, just set the needle or needles where it runs well. Then adjust the throttle down to the speed you want and lock it there (I use a clevis and threaded rod so it's adjustable. ). It works well on an LA40. 3 line with throttle would be really neat, though.

Hey Ward, thanks for the heads up on the WTs I will correct that before I cover the wings. My plan didn't show clipping the flaps like that. Should I do that too? H^^

I may do that Russell, kinda waitin to see how big the engine and mount are so I'll know how much room I have. ;D

it will definitely fly on C/L lines, John. ;D You might need to have some lead weights ready to strap on your waist (or an engine shut off) in case that Fox .78 cranks on up while it's in the air! LL~ LL~ na# (PE**)

So you think I need to turn up the castoroil and turn down the nitro......build a venturi with a bigdiameter intake, and muffle down tight! :##

Actually, Brother john, I would put an itty bitty venturi on it, use FAI (no nitro) fuel and put on a muffler that is so restrictive that it won't hardly let it breathe. Then it might stay tamed down enough! LL~ LL~
of course, you could use a throttle control!

The clipped flap is an idea stolen from Randy's SV group of designs. On the outboard wing (that you were looking at) the clipped flap tip is adjustable and becomes a trim tab if required. The IB is fixed.

Yeah, I gave up on the full flaps...they're gonna be stationary except for a trim tab just like that one. :P
