Picture of Rebel all trimmed and ready for flying session at Delta Park. Has a great running FP 35 in it. Got in about 6 flights today.

Very nice looking airplane....I love the orange. H^^

Leo,
Great looking plane and color!

Looks swell Leo! <=
-
Leo,
Your airplane looks great, both in appearance, and flying! H^^
Delta Park was a very busy place today. Haven't seen that many C/L airplanes on the flight line, for many years! Even a few contests I've been to did not draw that big a crowd! ;D

It's so YOU, Leo.

Leo...c'mon, you know that you're never done trimming a model until it's crashed and becomes firewood. At this point, I'm not sure if you've crashed it, or you've just achieved a good base trim level. I hope the latter is the case... y1 Steve

Leo, the plane looks great and glad to hear it is working for you. I like the open cockpit and plan on using one on the Arctic Fox. Have fun, DOC Holliday

Saw LEO new plane fly on Friday. The plane has noting but good qualites. Just in four flights I saw I think it could be his best effort. b1 #^ #^

Most of my planes require only basic trimming to start with. At least I build my own designs!. HB~> HB~> HB~> R%%%%

This is a Brodak stock color but I did not like this paint as it was very transparent. I think that Brodaks Cessna orange would be a better color and it is more opaque. Glade to hear my favorite Canadian has not frozen to death this year. LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ HB~>

Great lookin models...but uhhh? Leo??? Why didn't you have someone take a shot of you holding this model...like you did around 35 or 40 years ago...so we could compare the old model and man togetha...side by side? LL~
Thanks Leo...Check this out gang!!!!!

Hey Leo,
Very Nice. I see you fly , as George Aldrich would have said, in the proper direction. All the rest of us are wrong. "Good Luck" with your "New Toy".
Cheers and remaining yours in STUNT,

Rebel is a real good looking bird. Authentic right down to the paint. Did the paint come out of the same 30-40 yo can???
Uhhh, but you put the lead-outs in the wrong wing again..! :o

I asume you are talking about the aiplane, Idon't know who that old coot is holding it. Hey Shultzie, this has the same tight corner that Gene Mathenys old stunter had. It turns sharp and I don't have to fly it as fast as gene had to. I recon you will get to see it fly sooner or later. I'm havin fuuuuuuuunnnnnnnn!~!!!!????<?< HB~>

If you remember...this model was extremely light in weight...grooved beautiful...even in rather windy conditions..BUT HAMMERED THE TIGHTEST turn radius of any model that I have ever flown.
That day after Gene let both Tim and I fly that plane...Tim HAD TO BUILD ONE for the 68 nats..that was less than a month away.
Unfortunately after all that work...That was the model that lost its life waaay too soon-----on the trip back to the Kansas Nationals, after the UHaul car top carrier parted ways off his wide track Pontihorse roof and landed in a wheat field about 400 feet over the fence where that beautiful Bright Red new Genie Bird...took the full impact of the suitcases that were packed inside with the awesome flying little model. ~^ ~^ ~> :X
At least I got to test fly that Genie model of Tim's at Rawlings Wy. the night before. Tim's model being slightly more tail heavy than Gene's..turned corners even tighter but still retained that smooth steady level flight attitude.
I think his young son Vance was more upset that the rest of us. He was crying as we paced back and forth around that CRASH SCENE...picking up bright red pieces of new airplane parts that still had that lingering smell of fresh Aerogloss red dope fumes. SH^

Hey Stunt hanger gang..and Leo.
I think that young kid Leo is sitting there taking in the improto' Gene Matheny School of Stunt, that appears to be going on...just after Gene put in one of the best patterns of the day a few moments before this photo was taken.

These old fotos realy bring back old memories of a great guy and friend of mine. He tought me a lot about building and we often had long talk sessions about design and building methods. When I first met Gene he was flying with a U-Reely so I talked him out of that and he immediatly began flying better so I coached him on the stunts he didn't fly so well and then he started beating everyone for quit a few years. We would meet at delta park during the weak and we flew almost every day before a contest and the dicusion went on and on and the things we talked about were about flying and building. We went to many contests togather and usually he would come home with a trophy. I think the problem with this plane for tim was It didn't fit his style of flying, When he started using Super Tigre 46 engines it was his cup of tea. And Tim went all out with the white pants and Jacket like that other flyer we heard about. I will always miss Gene and his common sence aproach to stunt that was simple and to the point.
