Can you determine the year it was produced?
I may be wrong but I doubt it.

Had one too! Don't remember much about the details but I think I pretty much flew it to death.

If you're ever on I10 between San Antonio and Houston, at Schulenburg, take the Hwy 77 exit and go south. After an underpass, a few blocks up, you will see, on your left, the Stanzel Museum. The Stanzel story is very interesting.  Then, continuing south for about 5 blocks, and after passing by the back of the St. Rose of Lima school, family center, Knights of Columbus hall, you'll see, on the right several old metal buildings.
These buildings were the old Stanzel factory.

This might be a nice reprieve from a boring drive.

One of these was Robby Hunt's first "flying" plane. I knew he was destined to fly electric!

Far Out Picture , Bob.

Didnt realise at first the batteries are in the handle , envisioned it doing two laps , on the ground , carrying two D cells in the plane .

Wonder what it'd be like hotted up with modern electrics .  S?P S?P H^^

I had several of these, first one in 1966-67. Didn't last long trying to do the maneuvers of the fast combat ships.

The motor is also in the handle, and is driven by an 18' flex shaft. You could hypothetically goose up the power as much as you wanted, but the flex shaft is a severe limiting factor, it would be easy to just twist it in half with more power.

I have two that are brand new in the box, which I ordered through the hobby shop when I heard that Stanzel was closing down. I also have a biplane version, and a very good used one that I found on Craig's List for 10 bucks! They made a car that operated similarly and one of those is in my collection also. The next time my grand daughter is in town she will get some "stick" time on the used one. I had several when I was a kid, I still love the Stanzel stuff!
