RD-1 plans (Moderator feel free to move if appropriate)
« on: May 10, 2013, 10:47:53 AM »
Good Day all;

  Heading out to Ohio in a week's time to tend to chores there.  Was thinking about whiling away some of that time cutting wood (deceased father-in-law has a shop in an out-building).

  Carsten's is saying 4 - 6 weeks to deliver a set of RD-1 plans, which doesn't work for my timeline.

  Does anyone have a set of RD-1 plans they'd consider rolling up in a mailing tube and sending my way so that I can stay busy when I'm not busy?  I can do PayPal, etc.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

YES,.. Yes,.. and yes,..

Where would you like them shipped?

Steve T.

P.S.  You know the RD-1 requires a foam wing so you'll need to bring or have that available when you get to your destination.

Hi Mr. Steve,

Since the RD-1 is a constant chord wing it is super easy to make a built up wing for it.  My son did that for his second RD-1.  y1

The RD-1 has the same wing airfoil and shape as the SIG Twister.  Bob Hunt, of course, made the original with a sheeted foam wing.  I have airfoil templates to build it with a C-Tube wing as well as the way it is shown in the SIG plans.  If you would like a copy, let me know via email.

You might want to call Bob and talk to him about the changes he would recommend.

Bob Hunt also has a lost foam set-up for the RD-1.  I'm just finishing my RD-1e (electric) and the lost foam system is just great!

John Duncan is cutting foam and could supply cores for you. He has recently made me cored foam.wing set for SIG Mustang and Jaguar design. He can also cut wings for Prowler.
