So, anyone but me and Mark Scarborough coming? Weather should be OK (clouds, about 65F and light winds). Usually a very fun contest.

Randy,
Cox and I plan on being there.  Varley told me a few weeks back that he might come down.  I'm trying to talk my super machinist friend Ark into coming down.  He's busy machining some neat wooden 3B props and I just dug through my cabinet wood stock and found some really premium hard maple.  I'll mill it up tomorrow and take it down to him on Thursday.  Knowing him, he'll have some blades milled and assembled by Sunday.

If I make it I'll be up there Saturday only -- I'm up to sing that Sunday morning.

I'm planning on being there Friday (setting up scones) , Saturday and Sunday. Haven't got confirmation from our friends from Calgary, but I'm hoping they'll show. It's about the same hours from Calgary as Richmond BC, and a lot more pleasant drive!  #^ Steve

Not sure which Calgary you are referring to Steve, but I can assure you Calgary, Alberta us a whole lot further away than Richmond, BC!

See you Saturday

Well, Steve, if you want scones in Calgary, AB you are welcome to them, it is a little over 700 miles from Auburn, WA.  Calgary drive is in Point Roberts, WA only 160 miles, much more doable.

I set out the airport provided cones today.  The porta potty is moved but the pits are not set up yet.  The airport is OK with the field being set up until Sunday.

Bruce who?  Bruce Hunt isn't a weenie, just "pre-scheduled".  The last I checked Bruce Perry lives in Edmonton, another 160 miles from Calgary.

And Bruce Perry is close enough to Calgary. Or maybe not. Edmunton is 13 hours and 44 minutes (812 miles) away from Auburn, I guess.

"It's about the same hours from Calgary <to AUBURN> as it is <from CALGARY> to Richmond BC, and a lot more pleasant drive!"  I thought that was fairly obvious. Five hours from Osoyoos border crossing to Auburn should be doable, if all the highway construction signs are properly aligned and no snow. You couldn't do that from Calgary to Richmond in a '78 Trans-Am with Super Mario at the wheel.  :o  Steve

Here's some breaking news.  As I was leaving the airport this evening I notice a guy twirling an arrow sign.  It simply said "RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA!"

Yes sireee, approximately 200 feet from where we fly is the store titled "The Evergreen Store".  That should be handy if a person has a bad day.  It's located right across the street from the biker casino, "Iron Horse".  Now you can park your Harley, get loaded, fly your airplane and gamble!  Maybe not in that order.

Ain't life grand!

Well, Paul, at 1 pm it was a lot like Roseburg but colder. 180 degree wind direction changes. Gusts to around 15mph and, well, weird. Off the hotel it was just turbulent as heck. Like flying in a washing machine. In spite of that, Mark and I got a couple of flights in each. And we will get in more tomorrow.

I was watching the weather from the friends house I was staying at a few miles away, it appeared to improve some later in the evening, but that was where I was at.  I realized I should have talked around to see if anyone was going to be there later yesterday in case it improved.
I got in two flights this morning making a couple small changes . Then my two judged flights went well, it was a cool weekend, and for a few minutes I was ahead of Randy " Triangles" Powell, but he stepped it up on the second. there was some pretty good stunt flown.  Even better conversation was enjoyed.
