Title: Raider Roundup this weekend
Post by: Randy Powell on September 12, 2017, 02:54:53 PM
The Northwest Skyraiders Raider Roundup is this weekend - September 16th and 17th.

I hope to at least be there on Sunday. My son, that has the worst timing in the universe, is moving this weekend and I'm elected to help. Joy.

I can tell you from experience that moving takes many months. I'm moving, too, but I'm taking off this weekend for the Roundup.

Surely you aren't sufficiently healed from your accident to help somebody move. I wouldn't risk it.

Once again, I had planned on going to this meet, but like every meet so far this year, I wont be going. In fact I have not flown anything sine last Oct.  Bad Winter, Bad Spring and a lousy Summer have taken their toll of my flying.
Joe
For a good Carrier laugh go to the carrier section and see the "floating" Wildcat.

If I only had a choice, Howard. But I will help the darling move - from one apartment in Portland to another apartment in Portland. Joy. But I will be there on Sunday and hope to fly something.

Helping my daughter move from one house in Renton to another house in Renton was how I buggered up my right knee and resulted in the knee operation. Just sayin'....why don't you offer to just drive the rent-a-truck? Or is your truck THE truck. Show up in the Kia and see their jaws drop...odd how folks don't call until they need a truck, huh?   LL~ Steve

No Carrier at the Roundup this year.  We were just kidding about carrier.  We will have plenty of stunt and combat, though, so come to Chehalis this weekend for the good times and a chance to win the high-point cash prize donated by Steve’s niece Gem Glover.   See http://www.flyinglines.org/17.rr.flyer.pdf , but don’t believe the part about Carrier.

Hmm, sounds to me like he must not need the help.  ;D

Fun contest.  I didn't bring a plane 'cuz of my shoulder, so Howard made me judge every single stunt event (but not Combat, thankfully).  He said he was exploiting the dickens out of me -- so don't expect me to write any masterpieces of 19th-century English literature from now on.

Saturday was a lovely day in terms of wonderful Stunt weather.  Sunday, not so much.  Wind started of managble but by the last flight of the first round, even level flight was experiencing very turbulent conditions.  Oddly enough, above 45 degrees, although strong, the air was less turbulent.

As it turned out, Mr. Walker was the last man up, and following his flight, he immediately rolled up his lines.  The rest of us quickly followed suit other than Mike Haverly who mistakenly thought he could do better in the second round.  He was wrong... 😂.

Thanks to Howard and other officials for their hard work. Despite the reduced flight schedule on Sunday, it was still a lot of fun.
