We had that happen at our last contest, too. Sun from the upwind side of the circle is very abnormal. Call the UN; it must be from all the airborne electrons or VGs or something?   #^ Steve

Actually here in Tucson (also known at CL Heaven) the most common conditions in the mornings are 3-5 mph winds off the direction of the boat lake which is where the sun comes up so it's the best possible conditions.

However with the wind from any other direction it can be very turbulent air.  Fortunately the prevailing conditions are Great!

Ty,
Any more details on how or why the handle broke? Anything us other pull-testers can learn?

At the L pad this morning, the wind was about 3 to 7 miles per hour with the wind and the sun at the flyers backs.  #^ #^ #^ #^ Usually, and all agreed, it is towards the sun and 15 mph ..It was stunt flyer heaven, and my planes are at home, oh well, back to pull testing.  Did see one odd ball failure during testing where one handle was actually broken near the lanyard connection.  I have never, since 1952, ever seen a handle break during a pull test and this one didn't even make to the pull.

Hey Huntsville, AL club,  Ronnie got 4th in Classic yesterday. #^ H^^
