Title: Question on Drawings
Post by: Skip Carstensen on January 23, 2011, 02:37:26 PM
This is a general question.  I have searched the site and have not found an answer (It may well be here and I am not looking in the right place).  As a new member, is there someplace where I can get access to past drawings.  I read about some of the ringmaster drawings being available here and am interested in them.   I am generally interested in any old time stunt models as well.

There's a variety of people who have drawings for them for sale.  Pat Johnson has one for sure, and offers laser cut kits.  I _think_ that Pat King does also, and if he has a kit available it'll be nice.  I can never remember their nyms -- search on those names, and see what you get.

I was recently sent a Ringmaster S-1 drawing that was originally done by a guy in Italy -- if you can handle megabyte downloads send me your email address and I'll send you a drawing.

Barry Baxter, Tom Dixon, and Stuka Stunt all  have a fair number of OTS plans.

Some of the old magazine plans are available through the magazines.

Some of the old magazine and kit plans from extinct companies were saved due to the foresight of a gentleman named John Pond. After he passed, many of these were catalogued and are available through AMA.

Skip and anyone else,

I have the file for a set of Ringmaster S-1 plans that Gabriele Macri drew and that Pat King has modified. The plans are old time legal but have some modern additions such as adjustable lead outs, a wing tip weigh box, reinforced wing root and a suspended bell crank.

Gabriele, an Italian control line fan, drew these plans especially to encourage modelers to build the original famous Ringmaster. These plans are NOT copyrighted and can be printed by any copy shop that has a suitable large scale printer (plotter) such as FedEx Kinko's (now FedEx Office). Gabriele just wants to make this 60 year old classic available to the control line model world. He is especially interested in getting Europeans to build Ringmasters since, unlike here in the USA, the Ringmaster has never been popular over there and is largely unknown.

The actual file is about 1.8 mega bytes (in jpg format) so it is too large to post here but I will be happy to email a copy to anyone that wishes to have it. Just send me your email address and I will reply with the file attached.

If you use these plans to build a Ringmaster, you owe Pat King and especially Gabriele Macri a debt of thanks for their generosity in making them available. Build one and have a ball!!!  y1
