I started painting the profile Nobler over the weekend, I'm just doing a rattle can paint job. I am using Rustoleum paint and when I got it I noticed they have a clear coat. I was wondering if anybody has used it and how fuel proof it is. I have been using the regular Rustoleum for years and know it is fuel proof, but I don't know anything about the clear. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

At one time the Rustoleum clear was fuel proof. I used it successfully, but that was maybe ten years ago. The stuff today is NOT fuel proof, though the color paint is. Go figure. Lustercoat clear is what I've been useing lately with good results. Hope this is helpful.

That helps a lot. Is the Lustercote compatible with Rustoleum?

Minwax Spar Varnish is very fuelproof, very glossy too, and compatible with Rustoleum...down side? I hear it yellows after awhile, don't know, myself. I tend toward darker colors in paint.

Thanks for the information on the Minwax product, maybe I will give it a shot.

As far as I know the Lustercoat is compatable with Rustoleum, but I would test it first to be sure. Sorry for the response delay, I've been busy and couldn't check the board.
