Question about Glowbee tach.
« on: May 07, 2008, 05:51:56 PM »
I bought a new Glowbee tach for this season because it showed 3 memory capability. I store the reading, go fly and the tach has turned itself off to save battery power while I am in the air. I can not retrieve the RPM recorded when I turn the unit back on. Does it not keep the memory when yours goes off? What am I doing wrong? please share your experience.
Thanks Terry !

seems like that when I was using my Glo Bee, after you store the rpm, when you first turn it on it shows the recorded rpm, ,but I dont remember for sure. I got really tired of buying batteries for it all the time and it seemed realy finicky for reading the rpm.

Exactly the same as mine. Luckily, I only paid five bucks for it at a flea market. Now I know why.  Strangely though, I watched the current NATS Champ, Orestes Hernandes use one all weekend at the Team Trials last year at Muncie, no problem.  ::)

This is how my luck actually goes. SO now, if Globee is not the way to go, what brand is good to use?

I replaced mine with a tower tach, have been happy with it from day one. the only issue is making sure you have light so it reads well.
It doesnt have memory, (nor do I for that mattter) so I keep notes in my log if need be. At least thats what I am trying to do,, when I remember?

Mark , I understand, I too have no memory! That's why i wanted a tach with one. By the time I get done, I can't remember the setting on the tacH.

I bought one of those about five years ago and it's still on the original (NINE VOLT) battery.  I use it a lot.

I fired it up this morning and it still has yesterday's readings.

Maybe the "swap meet special" was sold for a reason.
