First day completed, Fitz 1070, Orestes 1042, Rich 988, Barry 957
Keep in mind this is just the first U.S flyer scores of many rounds and some of these flights were made on differant circles with differant judges. I will post more when the reports appear
We will not know how things are untill they are about 3 days into the contest
Looks like Orestes is at 1042, not the 1072 I was told last night
More later

GO Fitz!! And our entire US team!!

Orestes is leading.
-
Is Orestes leading the field? or the American Contingent? Anyone know where the scores are posted on the net?
-
Can someone just give a quick over view of what the program is? How many flights per day, any throw away rounds, etc.I know the format is different than what we fly, and some may not know that and be interested, like me!
Thanks a lot,
Dan McEntee

From looking at the first round scores It seems that Ryan is 3rd among the juniors. But I can only make out the names
(barely!) and only one junior is in the top 15 so far. But remember It's only the first round. The top three among the seniors are 1. R.KORNMEIER , David Fitz And Igor Burger. The other two juniors in front of Ryan are 1.A.GAUTHIER (14th overall) 2. Oki Minato

Is there a website where one can follow the progress of the World Champs? I am interested in F2A, B, C & D.
Cheers

Hi
There will be 4 qualifying flights, 2 will be used (best 1 flight from each round)to place the flyers in rankings for the top to compete in the finals, semi finals.
Then it is a new contest, for 2 days the finals will be flown with only those pilots who were at the top, I think they will take 15 or 20 pilots
http://users.atw.hu/bumacofly/wch/dokumentumok/Bulletin_1.pdf
the link above will show the entire schedule

At 2004 WC, it was top 15 with 16th flying the warmup. I remember that because I thought Bob Hunt was going to fly warmup(with the handle held the right way LL~ ) as he did on day 1 but it was Eugene(can't remember his last name) of Russia that flew the warmup for final 15.

Hi Steven
I think you are right, I remember 15 from last time now

Sorry... bur i cannot find the results on the referenced link..

Orestes is leading.
Hi Milton
NO you will have to wait untill all flyers get to fly in front of all judging groups on both circles...this is like 2 entire differant contest added together.
After the pilots get to fly before both judging sets we will only then know how things are shaping up
Randy
-
Hi Randy,
Where are you getting the results from?
Can you please post the link?
Thanks!
Claudio.

Thank you Randy, I thought so, since there are no official results available yet (as far as I know...)

Sorry, I didn't mean he was leading the contest overall, I thought he was leading the preliminaries among the Americans. I realize they have a long way to go.
By the way, I am very interested in the big red plane, one of the Chinese team members is using. Attached is a picture. The Chinese are packing some sweet Golden Knight Saito’s.

Hi Milton
I also had posted wrong that Orestes was 1072 instead of his real score of 1042, David has high score among the US pilots, Richard Kornmeier has the overall his score..so far..of 1074.. but keep in mind they are on differant circles.
Richard Kornmeier , Igor Burger, Andry Yatsenko, Han Xinping are just some of the excellent pilots that will be tough competition, along with the Japanese pilots and the rest of the Chinese team.. I just wished I was there giving what help I could :-)
There are 80 pilots flying, we will know a little more after the 2nd round is finished, but we really will not know anything untill the 4th and final round is over since they will add score over days of flying.
Regards
Randy

The new picture that is posted above by Shultzie is readable , much better than the one I saw before, you can see how the score are going from it. But it is 2 circles posted onto 1 sheet so it really does not tell us much so far
The picture is from Claudia Kehnen's picture site
this is the link to the first round score pictures

Looking at the pictures, I find it amazing how widely the sense of aesthetics varies. Probably more so than you tend to see in the US alone. Fascinating to look at the pictures.

I've seen the pics of a couple that are probably to complicated for you Randy. LL~ LL~ LL~ A lot of great pictures. Thanks for the link that is not in my favorite for a while. H^^

The Results for the first are posted
They are having some very bad weather now, Derek flew today in severe weather, and I have heard that some are flying in rain

Randy,
Since I saw my first picture of a foreign stunt plane-Josef Grabis's "Super Master", many years ago, I have been, and continue to be, fascinated by foreign stunt ships. There always seems to be something "exotic" about either, the looks or the equipment.
This "air" of mystery about them remains with me even until this day. We know what WE do. But, what is it that THEY do! Quite possibly, the very strong pull I had, to get with the 4 strokes so early was because, of their "foreign" and hence, "exotic" orientation; I HAD to get inside the "overseas” thing.
Check it out, the Chinese are not just using Saito’s, man-they are using Golden Knight Saitos. I mean-they are rolling with the pimped out powerplants. One thing I know for sure, while the rest of the World always seemed to using different equipment than us, they sure are having a hell-of-a lot of fun!!
-

Wow. This must be a different contest than I have ever been to in the past. They rarely smile, and I never hardley hear them even talk. They have never impressed me that they were having FUN. It was more like they were working a job....That they had to do....Like it was their living, or something like that!
Now, the Brazilians, they party!

Proparc,
Well, for me it's more that there are clearly a lot of ways to go about this than just the one we use. I've never seen how other countries do things is superior in any way. Just different and it's interesting.
Personally, I'm a big proponent of what works. If I do something and it works for me, I try not to break it.

Amazing shots from Claudia's photo stream...WOW! I WONDER JUST HOW MANY BATTERIES AND HOW MANY MEMORY CARDS Claudia goes through in a day! When does Claudia have time to eat-sleep-n etc! What a prolific soul...with an amazing photo talent AND THAT A GIFT TO SO MANY OF MODELERS OVER THE YEARS!

Hi Randy
Of course we have fun.
Claudia enjoyed the nice words about her/she looks proud/but she prefers to stay behind the Camera and not in front.
You have to activate some Paparazzis.
Best Regards

Proparc,

Superior or inferior was not implied in my post. I think we may have most of the wins,(not sure). Just different, exotic, mysterious and for me, VERY interesting. I can tell you for sure, that my involvement with 4 strokes came about DIRECTLY, as a result of the work of Luciano Compostello.

There's a contest in this area every year held by a sports radio station (NCAA basketball brackets thing). The grand prize for the winner is that you get to attend any sports event on the planet all expenses paid. One of the conditions is, you have to tell they what you want to attend when you enter. The guy that won last year went to a Formula One race in Australia. Anyway, when I entered this year, I said I wanted to attend the World Control Line Championship in Hungary. I got a very funny email back from the host of the show that sponsors this thing asking what that was. I sent a complete description along with some photos.
Obviously, I didn't win (and my bracket was pathetic), but I just got an email today for the guy asking for more information about control line flying. They may decide to cover a local event as part of a series they are going to do about local sporting events. How cool is that?

Thanks Igor....Nice shot!

Bye the way...Good Bud!!! Your camera skills are also gifted!
Best wishes to you and our fellow gang of addicted (Rocks on strings...as my beloved wife Carol calls our toy airplanes as you rep. our our countries in competition. mw~ H^^ **
Just razzin.
**(My young son Ryan years ago...once after going CL stunt flying with me...went over next door to play with his friend Eric (we called him EAR ACHE) next door.
It wasn't more than 5 minutes...Eric's mother marched Ryan back over to our house after he and his friend Eric had masking taped and tied a sizable river rock onto a piece of my spectra kite line and were SWINGIN' THE TIED RIVER ROCK... ROUND AND ROUND THEIR HEADS!!! VD~
Unfortunately the rock parted ways after they had been swinging it round n' round------HITTING THE SIDE OF A WALL 3 INCHES AWAY FROM THEIR KITCHEN SLIDING GLASS DOOR!
Thank God there just might be truth in the old statement:
GOD TAKES CARE OF KIDS-KITE-N' TOY AIRPLANE FLYERS AND DOGS! LL~ :o

Thanx, that picture was done by my wife Vilma, just for this thread, I am curiouse if Uwe can reply somehow (I affraid not VD~).

scores of all 4 rounds
Randy

Bill may not have made the cutoff for the finals, but I bet he learned a lot. Same with young Ryan. If Ryan gets the right mind set he can be the Jr Champ. Anyway go TEAM USA. H^^
-
Did Bill Rich not make it??? ???
Bill flew very well but for some reasons the judges just did not buy what he was doing. I think that he deserves to be in the top 15 but here my opinion does not matter. I feel very lucky to have made the cut myself. I would have to say this is the hardest contest I have ever flown in. There are MANY great flyers here and it may not sound like it but Bill's placing is very respectable. It is an honor just to be here.
Ryan is doing very well right now and after the first two flights of finals he is in the lead for the Junior WC. All he needs is another strong flight tomorrow and he will win. We are all very proud of him, he is flying his back up plane that he had never flow before we got here. That in it's self says a lot about his skill.
The wind was terrible today with 15-20 mph winds blowing through big tents and over the tabulation booth. The wind did not let up until the end of the last round. They have not been posting scores so it is hard to tell where everyone stands.
I guess we will all know tomorrow who the two new champions are!
I have had a great time here in Hungary but I will be glad to be back home.
Derek

There is still the 3rd and final round to fly, so we still do not know how it will shake out, but these are the high score of the 2 rounds so far
The final round of the WCs will be flown tommorow , our Jr Ryan is still flying very well, so we will all see how it shakes out Saturday

-
Igor Burger,
Is Richard Kornmeier still flying ST 60 powered Max?
I was about to ask the same question, Milton.
Regards,
Claudio.
-
Yes, Richard has ST60 MAX. He has my electric power train already home, but decided to fly ST60 because he hase more experience with wet power train.
-
No matter the results, the whole USA Control Line Team needs an atta boy for the dedication and efforts. H^^
-

If I am not mistaken, you placed 2nd at the Worlds with your electric Max, and now Richard has placed 1st at the Worlds with your ST 60 Max. It looks to me like you are Maxed Out!! Sorry, I just couldn't resist that one-congratulations. H^^
-
Thanx, there were 3 Maxes in finals, Richie (ST60), me (electric) and also Alexander Schrek (piped + "semiscale" fuselage). And yes, for me it is the best model - that is why I use it ;D
I had bad luck in finals, I had wind in 2 rounds, what is not problem it is advantage (it placed first after first round), but unfortunately I had bad second round in strong side wind while half of the round was in calm, so I lost lot of points to for example Vejmola, Han Ximping and Orestes and I was not able do make it in last round which was also flown in calm and where I was second in the morning. ... so may be next time in Primors Bulgaria :-) .. it is just hobby, we should have fun, not stress :-) ... 6th place is not bad anyway
-
Does anyone have a pic of the winner and his plane?
TIA.
-
There are lots of pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/fesselflug/sets/72157624439371711/ . Richard is the one in the white outfit, dressed like a stunt flier.

...... Richard is the one in the white outfit, dressed like a stunt flier.
Yeah that really narrows it down... <=
Those are some great pics.
I really liked your writings and pics of the drive home from Muncie. Very entertaining. Thanks for all your hard work at this years nats.

I can't beleive I just sat here and watched the slide show again. Seeing the hi tech hardware that was being used to set up barriers. The looks on the faces of the competitors during their time in the lime light. And most of all seeing the picture of Grandpa Bill hugging young Ryan. I wonder too what Teddy was telling young Ryan in one of the pics. Seeing Doc in speed pylon is another pic I liked. Congradulations again to all Team USA even if you didn't make the podium, you at least tried. Also how do we thank all the people that kept posting pictures for those of us that couldn't be there. H^^
