There are some other good uses showing up.  How about shark patrol and life guarding?

Now that I know the quadcopters are on duty, I can now swim in the ocean without worry.

It's all about money and sales...always is.

Kiddies are always captured by the latest Fad and the Bankers and sellers make all the money!  When the next fad comes along these things will join the Hoola Hoops on the pile!

I'm waiting for one to be eaten by a Great White Shark and photograph it's own demise!   LL~ LL~ LL~

Hm. I don't see it that way at all.  I think these things are here for the long term in greater or lesser numbers (who knows?).

There ARE practical uses for them. They DO have an entertainment value to some (same as flying R/C or C/L), to name a couple of things.

No, I don't think they're going away.

Probably not. But we can always hope. Maybe there will be something else that will catch on. "Noodling* for Sharks", maybe.   #^ Steve

* "Noodling" is done for catfish in OK, AR & TX, mostly. Not sure where all it's legal. Basically, you grope around in sunken cars, under ledges, in small caves, feeling for a catfish. When you find one, you shove your hand in its mouth, grab it by the tonsils and try to pull it out and to the surface. Some folks have drowned doing this. They often come up with pretty severe abrasions at minimum and very sore hands. Do NOT attempt this alone, except in Washington DC! ;D

I've heard this story but I doubt that it will happen.  The claim of finding a practical use for delivery drones is just a sales gimmick to sell the drones.  Lipos are powerful. But I do not believe they're powerful enough to carry a useful load a useful distance.  Amazon would need to have a drone-equipped "fulfillment center" every five miles.

They can sure bring an end to most the aerial photography business.

Paul,

Wow! Thanks for responding to my Post.  #^ I don't get much of that.

Amazon claims that they will have a limited radius for this test project.

This will absolutely be promoted by Liberals, and it IS in the works. Gets americans used to seeing drones all over the place. Eventually they will be "Spy on Citizen" drones.

Thanks again for replying to my comments. What a guy!!  H^^  LL~

It had to happen.  Anything "bad" must be the fault of "liberals".
