QC restriction

Just moseying my way home from the World Champs. We are slowly driving north on highway 1 from San Francisco.

We stopped at Pt. Reyes and were getting ready to hike to the lighthouse and saw this sign. This is a first for me.

Has anyone else seen signs restricting drone flights?

I've seen them here in AZ in the Saguaro National Park.  Not sure about the direction of the slash.  I think the one shown above is like the European ones but just very old memory and could be wrong!

Nothing surprises me given the current Administrations policies of control over everything in the US and nothing in the rest of the world.

Not quite as sinister as you may suspect. I believe this is because this is a bird sanctuary, and any kind of non-avian flying object may disrupt the normal environment in which the birds live. I know from personal experience with slope soaring along the coast in the SF area that many types of birds object to RC gliders and will even attack them. My gliders have been attacked by pelicans, gulls, terns and other coastal birds. Just the way the law requires humans to stay away from sea turtles in Hawaii and not hunt fish in many protected areas.
