Title: push rod ends
Post by: peabody on February 07, 2017, 12:22:11 PM
Not to steal Mike's great video about joining pushrods, I have a couple of thoughts....
#1 Why not use aluminum tube? It's lighter and, essentially, just serves to contain the J B Weld.......
#2 Why not use a shorter piece of tube to seal the end of the pushrod to prevent splitting?

Thanks

Have fun!

And drill a tiny hole to make it easier to force the JB Weld inside and keep the pressure build up from pushing the insert out of position.

The pressure is minimal, I use rubber bands to keep fitting in place till epoxy sets.  Don't like the idea of drilling hole in cf tube.
I also have been using short piece of alum tube at ends instead of wrapping to prevent splitting.

You certainly could Rich.  I just happened to have some 1/4" brass tubing here in the shop but aluminum would work as well.  As far as the push rod ends, I really like the threaded type that Eric Rule is selling now that capture the outside of the rod in a cup to prevent  splintering.  That goes to Allan's point plus gives you the threads for the ball link.
