I have a fishing scale sitting in the shop for intended purpose of pull testing. I just haven't gotten around to making something to hold the handle. I haven't been to many contests in my lifetime, but those that I've been to used a fish scale.

Thanks Brian! I'm just curious as to why nobody else has responded to this one. Must be a sore subject, or nobody looks at the AMA rulebook requirments! I had one I loaned to a friend, and he lost it, so now I need to make another one. It was a dial scale with a hook, and a wide leather strap for handles. Worked pretty well, but can't find another dial scale type to replace it with.

After reading your post today I got motivated and built a crude wood mock-up of a pull tester. I want something that will hold the handle without letting it slip or marring them. I'll use this for awhile to see how it does, and what it lacks.

Don't forget fellows the safety thong is part of the equation and must be pulled also.   H^^
