PT-19 Rebuild Finished

The rebuild of the PT-19 is done. In the process, I removed the dihedral and stretched the fuselage. Test flight this Sunday.

The plane looks good.  I thought that by now you would be waiting for December.  The other day I was mowing they said heat index was 120.

I'm only managing between 2 and 4 flights on a Sunday before melting down.

Hey we have a cold front coming thru tomorrow that will cool us off here in the mid south. We will get down to the upper 90's!

Today's test flight canceled on account of rain. This area is under a flood watch.

Took the PT-19 out today for a test flight. The McCoy 35 didn't hack it. Brought it home and swapped the McCoy for a ST 46. Lets see how that works.

ST 46 still didn't hack it. Next is a Fox MK-6 combat special.

What prop are you trying to use on the .46?  With the warmer temps, might have to go to more diameter or more nitro in the fuel.

Taipan 11-5. I still think it sits too level on the ground. Nothing else I fly has trouble getting off the takeoff ramp. This will do the reverse wingover with no problem.

Shorten the tail gear.  Or put on bigger wheels.

My first attempt to use a Fox MK-6 combat special failed. The engine wouldn't start. It seems that I had changed the NVA and didn't establish the setting before trying to fly it. I had it way too rich, and this thing's critical. I reset it and ran it in my back yard.

The PT-19 gear had worked loose, so I redrilled and bushed the hole. Last flight, my partner told me that my tip weight had come loose. When I got it home, I opened the compartment and everything was where it was supposed to be, so I opened the covering and checked. I found 2 wood blocks with a 1/8" hole in the middle. They were the gear reinforcing blocks. There was no trace of glue on them. Now for plan "B".
