Does anyone know what year the Prowler or the RD-1 was introduced? I asked this question on the N-30 section and have gotten no replies; but 61 views!

I remember Scott Smith  was at Atlanta contest in October 88  or spring 89 with the prowler , do not know how far in advanced to that  date it was flown/ designed.

Hi Phil,

Like Will, I don't remember the exact years but the RD-1 came first then Bob designed a taper wing basically to the RD-1 for Scott to kit.  Neither are N-30 eligible.  Hopefully Bob might see this and give us the exact years.

I believe the RD-1 came out in FM in July 1991.

Hi Chris and Will, I lived in Vermont from 1987 through 1991. Scott Smith was kitting the Prowler in 1987 so it was available at least during those years. I think it was out before that as Robby Hunt was competing  with his version prior to these dates I just don't know exactly when! Whenever it is will be putting it close to the 30 year cut off!

The first time I flew the RD-1 (competition) was at the 1990 NATS.  I had a second RD-1 (yellow) at a back up plane at the 1991 NATS.
