Prototype Brodak Corsair
« on: May 21, 2007, 09:30:52 PM »
Here are a couple of pics of the Brodak Corsair prototype.  The kit will not be available until sometime next year.  It was designed by Pat Johnson and built by Joe Messenger.  The prototype is a profile but the kit will be a built up.  I put my Brodak Mustang beside it so you can get an idea of the size.  It has a 40 on it which should be enough.  It hasn't been flown yet but that should happen this week.  Remember, sometime next year.

Very impressive.  What's the wingspan? Will the built up fuse version be for a 40 engine also? I will be very interested to hear how it flies.

Cheers

This Corsair, designed by Pat Johnson has a wingspan of 55".  Wing area is 561 sq. in. Fuselage length is 37".  Pat lists motive power at from .35 to .46. No flaps. We haven't weighed it yet so I don't have that number.  I don't think it is too heavy.

As Sam mentioned, the production  plane will have a built up fuselage. The main idea on this prototype is to test the wing and for that, a profile fuse will do.

The engine recommendation is from .35 to .46 but I suspect a .46 will be better suited for this plane.  I installed a OS LA .40 which has had some stunt modifications.  We'll see how that does.  APC 11/5 prop for a starting point.  Hopefully, we'll have a chance to fly the plane in the next few days.  Curiosity is building.

If you're at the Fly In and are interested, stop by and have a look at this Corsair.  Hopefully it will still be in one piece!

Regards,

Joe

I was hoping you would jump in Joe.  I didn't have all the specs at home with me.  Harry and I flew on Monday.  We're planning on going out Thursday.  Hope to see you there.
