Post by: Rob Killick on November 16, 2007, 10:59:41 PM
Hi ,

Are there still commercial;y available prop pitch gauges out there ?
At some time , I would like to get into some CF propellers and was wondering if you can still get pitch gauges ?

Thanks

I beleive the Prather pitch gauge is still available new, if not they show up on the 'bay periodically, thats where I got mine.
As I recall, there was a rather good article in Model Aviation some time ago that gave plans to build a very good pitch gauge?

Hi Rob,

Mark is right, the Prather Pitch gauge is available.

http://www.brodak.com/shop.php?CategoryID=215

It is a very well made, all metal, tool. At $69 it is a bargain.

IMHO: Measuring our props with this gauge is a science. However, modifying them may be more ART than Science!  :!

Interesting you should ask.

We have a new one in the works right now.  It will gauge up to a 15" propeller.

If you check Brodaks site on the gauge and click on more info, it will state under availability Not for sale.

Thanks for the update Lester.

I actually ordered mine through my LHS several months ago. I don't know where they found it? I just posted the Brodak link because I thought it would be helpful. People may want to try their LHS. .... Or wait until Bradley's is available, I'm sure it will be a good one.  y1

Hi Rob,

If you have not found one of Terry's excellent Pitch gauges yet, here is his email address and web site:

email:     terry@pratherproducts.com

web site:   www.pratherproducts.com  (may be under construction for a short time?)

Your LHS should be able to order one from Terry. He is a very nice guy and has always built high quality products for us modelers. :-)

Regards,  H^^

Hi Rudy

Prather products is closed and out of business, so it is unfortunate, but  there will  not  be  any more  pitch gauges  from them.
Maybe  someone will pick this item up and make it soon

Regards
Randy

Thanks Randy,

This is sad to hear, but not a surprise. It's no secret that we CL guys are getting older. My guess is that we will continue to see more of the "cottage industry" suppliers retire from their labor of love. ..... This must have been a recent event. He just had a promotion write up for his pitch gauge in the July 2007 issue of CLW. Thanks for the update.

I was one of the many young "cannon fodder" flyers who went up against Terry many years ago in the CL combat circle. My 1st flight against him only lasted 2 laps till my string was cut!  n~

We are all glad that you are a "young guy" and will be supplying us with quality CL engines for a long time into the future! :-)

I agree, I hope someone picks up his excellent pitch gauge, I'm glad I have one.

Regards,  H^^
