Tucson temperature

I'm sure everyone won't be interested in this...but my little weather station here in Tucson says it's 118.6 degrees at my house right now.  I had intended to break in a new RO Jett 67 on the bench today but I think I'll wait for slightly cooler weather.
The .67 is slated for a new Whitely Shoestring that I'm building.  Wing, Stab/Elevator, and Rudder are framed up...have to build the fuselage now.  The wing is based on a geodetic Hunt Saturn, like Bob W's. original with a slightly more scale shape.  It weighs 9.2 ounces with flaps and controls installed but not covered.  Very Stiff.  660 sq/in.

Airplane on the botom of the rack is RJ's original.

I spent a couple of summers at Ft Bragg NC in the early 60's...definitely remember some "sweaty" times there also!

 I only spent one summer there, not my favorite place. I am in love with my solar planels, my estimated AC bill for June is 85.00. The AC never shuts off.

I'm on the west side of Fayettenam, on the other side of the reservation/drop zones.  It was 96 here yesterday, this is the time of year that we have almost daily thunderstorms and threats of tornadoes.  Fayetteville has the state record for the highest recorded temperature............... been here for 50 years now.

Randy here in KC it's 104- that's 82 degrees and 22 mph wind.  Practice anyone?

  No, you should go ahead and break it in! It's already approaching operating temperatures! My late younger brother Jim , who was a trained and excellent small engine mechanic, taught me that you break any engine in at a normal operating temperature and normal load, just don't over do either, and use fuel you plan to run it on. I have lived by that with anything I own that has a piston in it and has worked out well for me. I really don't think the air temps will hurt anything, buut it depends if you can stand it!

Just spent a week in sunny Las Vegas, got to go to the field with Steven  and Reuban McBride, boy was it hot,  VD~it was a different heat than I an use to, no humidity, if you got in the shade it was doable,

Got to see the old OTC site, they fly control line there now, along with rc and helicopters, thanks Steven and Reuben for spending a day  with me,

Been sweating more today  than all last week catching up on farm work, just like Tucson, a very beautify and fun town to vacation  in and seems me a popular place to retire

I wasn't at all worried about the engine...just ME!

The temp topped out today, here at my house in Picture Rocks, at 121.4  a record!
It's close to midnight now and it's still over 100 outside.  It usually cools off pretty fast when the sun goes down but I think there's some kind of inversion holding the heat down...the sky looks pretty wierd and sort of overcast...

I'll be happy if we don't have any more days like this.  It's supposed to turn to a cold snap tomorrow at 100 degrees. 

I'm going flying in the morning!   Maybe...

Boy the old guys just can't hack it anymore.   My old Ford said it was in the  low 90's on the way to Humansville for class reunion.  On way home it showed in the 70's.   Now Arizona has dry heat,  North Dakota has wet heat I suppose, as the one year I was up there for their contest, by the time we got to the motel there was not one stitched of dry clothing on me.   By the way it was windy yesterday as the old Ford kept trying to change lanes with the crosswinds.

You will like the RoJet .67. It is Richard Oliver's favorite engine. I have witnessed many flights and I have to agree it is the best out there at this time.

I use to spend a lot of time working out of Phoenix all over Arizona for the Valley National Bank System in the 1970's. Sometimes I froze and them it would be 110. Arizona is a land of extreems. The last 10 years have been back to Flagstaff 7 times and it is hotter there now than it was back in the early 1970's
 It is 75 here in Concord NC today at 1PM

Came in an hour or so ago after taking two flights on my circle. Allready 90 at 1000 a. m. Suppose to top out at 113 degees in northen Calif.  I really need to move back to Eugene!!!
