Profile Stunt Model Description
« on: December 03, 2012, 01:27:41 PM »
There seems to be no clear definition of a profile stunt model anywhere. The AMA has it defined for rat racing and combat models and a few others. The Brits have a basic description of a profile, but I doubt we would be happy with that. The people that run contests that include profile stunt need to get together and work out a description of what is or isn't a profile model. It would head off possible problems later.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

There's no getting together needed.  It is up to the local contest director to decide how profile will be flown at his/her contest.  Simple.

Use the "Scale" specs. and build accordingly.

If you do a little bit every day it will get done, or you can do it tomorrow.

That's too easy.   It's too hard to contact Contest Directors and see what local rules are for that contest.

Whatever the local CD says it is, it is, period. Also it is casual to the most obvious
observer what is and is not a profile. It's either a built up fuse or it ain't.
Besides what difference does it make? You like profiles, fine. You like
full fuse models, that's great too. I don't like profiles cause it takes too much
work to build everything else just to hack out a slab fuse. I can understand that
some may be unable to build a full fuse plane so I am happy for them. Trouble is
if you can build a wing and install the controls a full fuse is a piece of pie,uh,cake.
Of course there is no challenge to an ARF or ARC as 99% of it is done for you.
Like Doc I would ask the CD what the rules are and go from there. This isn't
difficult.  RJ

Ya Know...
When my horses are dead I just bury them and cry a little...beating one makes no sense.
