One of the local flyers is wanting to build a profile Nobler (PAMPA plans) and we were wondering if anyone has built and flown this one?

A late friend of mine had one called the "Gearge Aldrich Special" that I believe was kitted by Custom Models. It flew okay with a Fox 40 installed.

Have not seen the one shown in PAMPA fly, but I have seen the Aldrich Special from Custom Models. My buddy had one and it flew great! It was just basically a Profile '57 Green Box Nobler with foam wings. he had a Byron Barker OS .40FP and it was a sweet profile package.

I would go that route, just get a Green Box foam wing and build it from there.

The "Profile Nobler" published in SN had a constant chord wing and didn't look as much like a Nobler as it did a Magician. Not saying it's a bad idea to build one. I'm sure that built light and straight and well powered and trimmed, it would fly quite well.

Sorry that was my Vector, this is ny Mets NOBLER.LA 46 power.All my Noblers started out as a ARF,I also have one that looks like a Midwest P51. I find it's a cheap wing, and very straight , quick and easy build. All have the front lead out as the up line and the rear leadout is moved 1/2 forward. I used the Green box Nobler plans to make the fuse & Brodak left and right horn,s. I use the stab & elevator along with the rudder from the ARF. My next project is a Electric ARF Nobler with the full body to hide the battery.I also use a wing landing gear with these wings , as the wing has a spar in the perfect location . I have crashed and the LG holds up. I did break a LG mount in a Gopher hole at the Garden State Circle Burner meet.My Profile Nobler's.

I really like the Noblers Neal. Over the years I have had 2 green box Noblers, a Jr. Nobler, a G.Nobler and now I have a Nobler ARF recovered to look similar to my second Nobler when I was about 14 or 15. I love the way the Nobler looks at the end of the lines and after a couple of years flying a kit built Brodak Cardinal I can see some big advantages to a profile airplane. I flew my Cardinal at FCM in Profile Stunt and then flew the next day in Advanced. Its nice not having to switch planes to fly a second event and flying in profile allowed me to fly against several experts. Its kind of cool to see where you end up placing flying against guys who fly at the highest level.

The Noblers are really cool!

I, too, will ask just where do you get the wings? Are you just buying ARFs and raiding the wings from them? (I would like a couple wings is the reason for asking!

Thanks, Neal. Where are you finding the ARF's? I suspect you are getting them at a very good price.

That has been my contention for a long time to not have too many different models when learning. That is, have several of the same kind of models with exact engine copies. Thus, three Twisters, and two stunt tuned .40 or .46's by the same engine tuner. Paint them different colors, but keep them alike as much as possible.

HI Allen,

I have agreed with you on this point for a long time.

Start with a proven model and build a few. This will prove wonders and lets one advance pretty easy. Once things are coming around then a pilot can start choosing his "advanced" planes. I have seen several guys do this and advanced quickly.

EGG-Zactly! Nobody cared that the guy wanted to build a model that was not related whatsoever to the GMA Nobler, and persisted in posting pictures of their profiles made from leftover NoblARF excrement.

I still say that if the guy wants to build that model, he should do so. I'd bet that it would fly just fine. If he didn't know that it wasn't related to the GMA Nobler and didn't look anything like the GMA Nobler, then he should be told. End of story.
