Profile Kell
« on: January 21, 2021, 10:39:30 AM »
Just pulled the trigger on a profile Kell kit from Walt Umland. 557 Sq. in. seems good for an LA 46. Anyone have any experience with the Miss Kell or the profile Kell?

Thanks,

Bob Whitely design, the Miss Kell was on the front of a model magazine. MAN, I think   D>K Steve

Looks like a fairly modern design with standard construction. I was on the fence between this and the similar sized Vector 40. It's something a little different and I think the wood will be better in the Umland kit.

Miss Kell was featured in the July 1977 issue of Model Airplane News.
The design is named after his daughter who was the cover model.

Thanks Great story. I'm getting the impression not to many people have built this, anyone know how it flys? It must be pretty good if 2 different kit makers cut it. Does it qualify for classic or anything?

Hi MM,

The Profile Kell is an exact copy of the Miss Kell but in a Profile and I have been told by the small hand full of guys that have actually built and flown their Profile Kell's that they were very pleased with the
performance and would say that they fly almost like the original built-up.

Basically all we did differently was make it so the builder could choose either a flat stab or the anhedral Stab. Oh! and choose it also with or without the wheel pants.
Thank you and God Bless

Walt, Thank you for making all these wonderful kits. My bench is clear and I'm waiting to send you money. I hope you're making some amount of profit for your efforts. Really appreciate the better wood selection and attention to detail in your kits. Looking forward to flying this summer.
