Hi all,
My darling daughters have ordered me a plan and laser cut rib set for christmas this year from Bill Swan @ bristunt for the Heatbeat models "sukhoi" profile. ;D ;D ;D
I am currently debating what to use for a powerplant.
The model is (I think) around the 620-630 sq" mark and most are powered by LA .46's.
I already have a fairly fresh LA .46 which is ok but I am keen to try something else, variety being the spice of life and all.
Mark Batty won the Aus nats twice (I think) with his using a Tom Muggleton prep'd Fp.40. The entire package was very impressive!
We don't have a P.40 event here so capacity is not an issue but we do get lots of wind which is leaning me heavily towards either a ST.51 or a Magnum .36. ( Chalk v/s cheese.)
I don't know if the .36 would prefer to run a pipe to haul a model this size, I would prefer not to as I have no experience with them and there is no one around these parts that can set me on the "straight and narrow".
I guess the St .51 would be the real 'no brainer' option.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

In my opinion, ST 51 is the choice, if a goos ST 46 is not available.

Profiles are a great way to get started on the tuned pipe program. The headers and pipes are in the open and accessable. The new pipes are very "friendly" and if set up per instructions of the designer almost never need to be fussed with. Not to mention the power benifits you'll reap in a windy area. I started with a Bob Hunt Prowler, OS .32 piped and then went on to a larger Mike Pratt Force (the full flapped version) with an Aero tiger .36. Very easy beginnings. I would suggest that you give our engine moderator, Randy Smith a call to discuss your possibilities.
