What is a good primer to use before you spray on color dope?

Mike,
I've always just used Polar Gray Butyrate and it works OK...but I suspect there better choices and I'd also like to hear some of the "Pros" like Randy P, Mark Scarborough or Bill Byles etc answer this one.

Might best be reposted into the finishing forum, however...
A search will show that Sparky and others use NAPA spraycan lacquer primer, and some others use Dupli-Color lacquer primer from quart cans. Nothing wrong with clear dope and talc, clear dope and corn starch, or clear dope and zinc stearate, either.
Clear dope and rice won't work, nor will clear dope and red beans. LL~ Steve

thanks guys and Steve I had forgotten about the paint and finish forum so I reposted it there too. Thanks for reminding me. All of a sudden I am hungry for Red Beans and Rice. That is a Monday tradition here in Nawlins....
