I would love/hate to see my wife's face when I said "Honey. I just bought an engine on Ebay" and then I told her how much.

I am sure many of you have seen them before, but this was a first for me.

Keith;

   You gotta learn this, You tell them FIRST what you are gonna spend, it softens the blow from the fryin pan. (One lump or two) That is a Tad high for a 201, I paid 1/3 that for mine. Same condition. But then it depends on how bad you want it. I paid 4 figures for a "Morton M-5" But then thats in a class all by itself  LOL

  "Billy G"   ;D

EDIT---This comes from me "Pappy"----NEVER and I MEAN NEVER surprise the little woman about money you have spent on something for YOU. If it is for her then thats OK.

Here it is:

 TORPEDO   201---- April 1960---- .201 cu. in. Longer stroke version of the .19. Crankshafts stamped "201". Drive washer has "D" hole. "201 " cast below exhaust. "201" stamped on front of green head on most engines. Most have shiny tumble finish case. 6 fin cylinder and piston same as used on last green head .19. "E" prefix in early serial numbers, no prefix later, no serial number still later.  .640 Bore  X  .625 Stroke.  Approximate serial number range E 1000 to 2500. ("E" dropped along the way).

   Charlie:

    Here is a deal you can't refuse. You buy all you can find for $3.00 each. Sell them to me for $15.00 each. Now, for every three that you sell me I will kick in an extra $150.00 for your trouble. Hows that for a deal?

Bill!
 I refuse!
On a serious note;A friend of mine,s dad has(last time I saw him) an AJ Fireball NOT with the bubble canopy but the
mustang type fuse.
It has cord leadouts and a Bullet (or is/was it a vivell) 35 Red Devil ignition engine.
It was in new condition when last seen ,except for a repaired wing tip not painted,from hitting a tree branch
when last flown in 1951.
What  do you reckon its worth     5.00? D>K

And a four bolt Fox (3 bolt backplate) just went off at $53.00. Yup, I missed it!

Never can tell...

Ward;

   FOX .35 Stunt 4bolt head 3 bolt back plate is the last year of the "Sand Casts" You missed a good one,too bad. It was also the first year for the 3 bolt back plate, prior to 1951 they were 2 bolt back plate. A 1949 just went for a c-note, even that was a bargain.  FWIW
